Presumably weather, but 6 or 7 other arrivals are holding over Modesto and then cleared for approach.
738 from BOS fighting headwinds, probably didn't have fuel to hold for long.

Time to post my gripes again about Commutair.... UA4806 EWR-ITH delayed 3.5 hours for reasons unknown to anyone in the GS department. UA4921 EWR-ITH cancelled due to mx. Now going to drive to the Binghamton area. Hoping the freezing rain holds off until later tonight..... I would be stupid to hold my breath that 4806 goes tonight.

Earlier this month, my EWR-ITH was cancelled for mx. 0-2 this year using that crap UX carrier. I had a huge go-around with them a couple years back after a rash of ridiculous mx cancellations out of IAD.

Are there any plans to replace these aircraft with more reliable RJs?

Sitting at SFO waiting for UA 222. 3 hour delay and counting. Flight was originally scheduled with a A320 but got swapped this morning to a p.s. 757. That 757 seemed to have issues during the day which already delayed the flight by over an hour before. When it finally got here, they said they need to swap it out. It's taken 1.5 hours so far to swap planes. What a start to an already short weekend getaway.

Ua 153, sfo-iah, 2/8

My wife was booked on this flight; but she wisely switched to a different flight. This aircraft came from PVG, as my flight on 2/2. I received the rolling delay messages:

Originally departure time: 10:50 am;

Changed to: 11:30 am; 12:00 pm, 1:15 pm, 2:30 pm, 2:45 pm, 3:00 pm, 3:25 pm, and 3:40 pm.

Actual departure time: 3:43 pm.

Walked past this flight in terminal when it was only an hour delayed. Apparently it got much much worse! The bird must have been really sick.

United #282 Sacramento to Chicago Friday Feb 17

Now delayed over 18 hours due to maintenance

UA 1845 SFO-DEN tonight, very frustrating. We sit for 45 min near the runway threshold and the pilot tells us that they cannot get their weight/balance right, then find out that some bags cannot be accounted for. Have to go back to gate, where we also refuel. I get off, seeing that I will miss my formerly 1hr connection in Denver by 10 min and don't want to be stranded there for the night - believing that it is too risky to think that they'll hold the connection, given the closeness of the inbound arrival / outbound departure time, who knows what gate distance, etc.

I disembark, rebook, etc, only now to see that my would-have-been connection was held 15 minutes probably for the inbound passengers. Now on bleary redeye through Houston. So frustrated.

UA 2022 SJU-IAD diverted to BWI today. Why?

Flight is in the air inbound to IAD now on the short flight from BWI with a final arrival 2 hours late.

Probably due to the winds causing delays.

BWI would be the most likely diversion field for IAD. Easier and closer than RIC or PHL. A bit of high wind slowing down arrivals and it is easy to start running low on fuel.

Two hours is not bad for a delay.

Pretty weird, the winds were gusty today but not extremely bad (I live 6 miles from Dulles).

Pretty standard, I read the METARs for IAD and they were pretty bad for IAD ops.
