The 797 isn't even official yet and too far into the future. UA is in a pickle with the 757-222 and 763 fleets. I expect that the NGS upgrade will happen. As for the speculation about Boeing restarting passenger 763 production it sounds unlikely. United also won't be able to source 35 newer 763s on the secondhand market to bridge the gap until the 797 is flying. Perhaps they'll be forced to take more 787s or literarally fly the wings off the old birds.

From another source:
757-300 seat map with slimline seats
https://twitter.com/LAflyr/status/94645 ... 02112?s=09
- 3 rows in the overwing exit area
- removal of a galley at 2R
- removal of lav at 3L
- removal of closet at 4R
NOTE: That configuration puts Y at 1 lav per 70 pax, not counting the possibility that F would poxxibly share the forward Y lav. Only UA aircraft with higher ratio is 738 at 1 to 75. Most domestic Y ratios in the 1-54 to 1-69 range. Most internationals in the 1-40 to 1-50 range.
763:
N646UA sked to enter HKG 2799/31Dec for 2 class Polaris and winglets - maybe N656UA will exit HKG soon (there since 11/14/17)
772:
N210UA exited XMN 2789/30Dec
N219UA exited XMN 2790/30Dec

I'd expect a little longer than that, more like 2.5-3.5 months. The quickest so far has been N649UA, which was out of service for just under 3 months. With 2-3 in mods at one time, the 3-class 763s will be done in 2018 at this rate.

“First, we will take advantage of the lengthy modification period (up to three months per aircraft) to schedule and perform a number of safety and reliability improvements, some mandated by airworthiness directives and others identified by Reliability Engineering as having the greatest reliability return on investment,” says the airline, noting that United tech services VP John Wiitala indicated the overhaul is the most “extensive review of its kind we’ve ever conducted on a subfleet”.
“The new interiors – including seats, entertainment systems, bins, panels, galleys and crew-rest areas – will inherently be more reliable than the aging systems and fixtures on the existing fleet. Current interior components and systems account for the majority of our short delays on 767-300s, so putting in a new cabin nose to tail should drive down those delays considerably,” says Wiitala. The full fleet retrofit will take more than two years to complete.

They have done several things...
They pushed back the A350 orders to 2022-2027: UA to convert A35J orders to A359; to order an additional 10 A359s
They ordered more 767's short term to wait for a MOM replacement: United to buy more NEW 763/4? [Rumor]
As far as 787, I am pretty sure there are just finishing up their initial order

The first 787-10 is scheduled to be delivered in 2018, along with two 787-9s and four 777-300ERs.
