this is seems to be pushing the max range of this aircraft. What are typical tolerances for max range?

The 77W has a longer published range than the 772ER it's replacing on this route. Though I believe this route represents the farthest the 772ER has been pushed.

AA operates DFW-HKG on the 77w which is slightly longer and CX has JFK-HKG. UA won't have a problem.

The wiki should really be updated based on the rollout of P+, as there will be many more dedicated routes that have the new Polaris seating going forward.

This morning I was on UA240, which was supposed to be a 78X from EWR to LAX - but they subbed a brand new 77W with the Polaris and Premium Plus cabins. Don't know why they took out the 78X, but they announced that the 77W was only 7 days old in the fleet. Lovely flight, except for no Channel 9, even though it claims it's available on the entertainment screen. Side note - something I didn't know - when we landed at LAX the purser announced that gate 77 is the only gate in the UA terminal that can handle the 77W due to its length. I had to go on line to check and the great old 747-400 was 71m and the 77W apparently is 73.9m. I seem to recall the 747 using multiple gates there. Mods if you think this belongs in another thread, please move.

That probably explains why they never used LAX for the proving flights regularly when they were brought online.

You know - I wonder if the purser meant that it was 7 days post refitting? It seemed new, but there were certainly some dents in the lav that I noticed and wondered how it took such abuse in such a short period of time.

Re: Channel 9. - I think it is up to the pilots if ATC will be broadcasted on Channel 9.

One of my upcoming trips SFO-EWR just got swapped to a 777-200 with Polaris hardware. I haven't been keeping up to date on the retrofits, so this was a very pleasant surprise! I don't see it anywhere else on the schedule, so this might be a one-off fluke.

It happens from time-to-time. The 737 Max-9 issue is causing some unusual assignments, which has a trickle-down effect. Combine that with the 787-10s being deployed internationally and 777s going in/out for PE retrofit, there are occasional needs for fleet swaps.

Not trying to pick an argument here or be pedantic, bu the wiki says 90 days/90 posts. Anyway it doesn't matter to me but perhaps something needs to be corrected somewhere.

Anyhow, using this wiki entry as an example it is confusing to me as to what I would do to edit the wiki:

SFO/LHR (UA 901/949) Started 23APR18, ends 26OCT18, resumes 30MAR19

SFO/LHR is not UA949 (LHR/SFO, UA901 is SFO/LHR) and at the moment I am sitting on a reservation in May (ie. after 30MAR19) on UA949 that is the old config. So I don't know what resumes means in this case, perhaps someone can say what started/ends/resumes means and then it would be clearer, or perhaps I am just being thick. Perhaps it means it will definitely move to the new config after this date but the seatmap does not reflect it until the usual nonsense at T-72, but I don't know. Anyway, I've said it now!

If something is unclear to you, it is probably unclear to others. Help make it clearer. And data in the wiki can get stale

I read SFO/LHR as being in both directions, generally the aircraft out is the same as aircraft back on long hauls routes.
As far as resume, I read it as to mean, this was "something", it changed in Oct and when written it was return to what was previous. Might be better to said, resumes / changes / post-some date and becomes XXX.

But it appears the date might have changed and either you have a one-off or the date has changed. What is the aircraft the day before, the day after. ???

I am flying out on almost 3 weeks from now on UA901. I booked this flight originally in July as SFO-IAD-LHR but they changed the itinerary and put me on the nonstop both ways.

I would have sworn a couple of months ago the seat map showed the 1-2-1 Polaris for UA901 but now, it shows up as a 3-cabin 772, meaning the lousy 2-4-2 in J.

Any change they would change it again to 773 with Polaris cabins in the next 2-3 weeks?

The return in mid May on UA900 is currently showing as 773 Polaris cabin.
