As of Dec 4, 2014, up to 2 Jan 31 2015 expiring GPUs can be extended to April 30, 2015
- Call or email 1K/GS agents to request
- Must have re-qualified for 2015 as 1K (or GS)
- No extension for RPUs

In past this must be done prior to expiration, would assume the same this time also.

If that's your case...you'd only get your 2 Plat RPUs unfortunately.
Passed the 100K EQM mark, but didn't end 2014 over the $10K spend mark.

I'm cool with not getting the 6 GPUs - I just thought that since I was already a 1K in 2014 that my estimated 2015 status wouldn't be a factor into getting them since we were still in 2014.

But if understanding correctly, I still get 2 additional RPUs for crossing the 100k EQM mark, and that's what I'll need to fight with MPSC for.

Yeah - you get 6 GPUs at each 1K qualification: "Premier members will earn six Global Premier Upgrades upon meeting all qualification requirements of Premier 1K® status."

Looks like you don't get the RPUs either: "Premier members will earn two Regional Premier Upgrades upon meeting all qualification requirements of Premier Platinum status, plus two more upon meeting all qualification requirements of Premier 1K® status. An additional two Regional Premier Upgrades will be awarded for each 25,000 Premier qualifying miles or 30 Premier qualifying segments earned thereafter during the same calendar year that Premier 1K was reached."

Sorry - think you're OOL unfortunately. That second pair of RPUs (along with the 6 GPUs) comes when you make 1K - which now requires both the PQM and PQD if you're US based.

Unfortunately, you won't get 2 RPU and 6 GPU if MP is strict about the rules.

You should have changed address to Canada.

I have two GPUs that may be coming back into my account. Are they still being extended? Thank you.

As long as they show up in your account and you request the extension prior to 1/31/15 expiration, you're good.

Was just able to successfully extend them, took less than 5 minutes.

Here's my experience:
1st call - Agent said "we don't offer any grace period or extensions for GPU". I replied, ok, HUCA.

2nd call - Agent asked me for my MP number, name, and PIN. Lots of call center background noise, agent also said he was not aware of any extensions. So I questioned agent if he was really 1K desk. He assured me he was, and that he would look into the extension.
Got put on hold for 10min, and he said that the 2 GPU have been extended to 4/30/2015.

I check my account and 2 GPU were extended to 4/30/2015. Now I'm satisfied. But here's the weird part, to manually process it, it appears the agent has to "redeem" 2 GPU and then re-deposit them with the extended date. However, my agent redeemed 1 GPU and 1 RPU (both expiring 1/31), and the re-deposited 2 GPU (expiring 4/30/2015).

tl;dr - Two 1/31/2015 GPU became One 1/31/2015 GPU and Two 4/30/2015 GPU

GPU's Expiring

Did I read somewhere that folks were able to get their GPU expirations extended?

I was told no in an email from 1K: "I am sorry we are not able to honor your request to extend the validity of your certificates."

/I've been 1K for years and qualified again...

Try calling MP CS rather than emailing.

I would never send a FT thread about UA policy back to UA in a e-mail.
A simple phone call to MP service desk extended my GPU. Why bother with all these e-mail going back and forth?

because I've had an email thread going with them (actually with 2 different reps) regarding a slew of issues at the end of of the year. (Being a 1K was pretty tough in '14 - I did not feel the love!) Anyway, as part of what I was asking was to extend the expiration on 2 GPU's that didn't clear for an International flight in December. I had paid for a higher fare class to make the flights eligible - I was with my wife and only my ticket got upgraded (obviously she sat in the F seat) but I complained about that and some other issues...
