As of Dec 4, 2014, up to 2 Jan 31 2015 expiring GPUs can be extended to April 30, 2015
- Call or email 1K/GS agents to request
- Must have re-qualified for 2015 as 1K (or GS)
- No extension for RPUs
In past this must be done prior to expiration, would assume the same this time also.

I don't think anyone has yet started the annual thread on this topic.
For what it's worth, as of September 17, GPUs that expire on 1/31/2015 cannot be extended.
I called MP and talked to an agent who was very helpful and knowledgeable (she knew exactly what I meant when I asked about extending GPUs, and she knew that last year's policy wound up being that 2 GPUs could be extended through the end of April). She said she keeps up on her company email and that there had been no announcement this year, and her best guess is that if they decide to do extensions, it won't be announced until December.

Last year it was reported around Dec.10 that UA allowed GPU extension to April.

If I book a ticket now for an entire return travel post 31 Jan 2015, can I use a GPU now for that flight or does the flight have to be before 31 Jan 2015?
Never used a GPU before hence the question.
Thanks for any responses in advance.

Flight has to depart by 1/31/2015. if the outbound is before that it's fine, even if the return is after.

Too early to be asking.

If one uses the 1/31/2016 GPUs for a reservation in February 2015 and UA announces an extension, would swapping the 2016 ones out for the 2015 ones be a problem? (Probably just some updates on the GPU counters in the frequent flyer system without touching the PNR and messing up the upgrade/waitlist, right?)
Thanks.
Thanks.

Has UA announced extending 2014 GPUs yet?
I just booked a trip to PVG and was able to upgrade the SFO to PVG on 1/26 but can't apply my GPU for the flight back on Feb 1st.
Does anyone know when United will let me to extend one GPU pass 1/31/14?
Thanks,
Joe

yep -- typically early to mid-November before the pushing out of GPUs becomes possible AND there is no guarantee it will happen (but I'm guessing it will).
