Please don't use those. Don't finally (and permanently) send EWR-OSL off to the sunset. blah!

Guess that means later today! Unfortunately since I am in Taiwan right now, I will probably be asleep when it is officially announced

hmm.... i don't think UA would "waste" a doible digit route number on a mexican or canadian city. also, the PM of vietnam is currently in the US (for those of us who think it might be SGN). i'm excited!

Competing with Vietnam Airlines?

United probably tries to starve off Vietnam Airlines with lax-SGN route. They do have A359 and B787 to fly to US but have not done so.

Man, this announcement is getting me so excited!

My top guesses would be:
1.) AKL
2.) HKG
.
.
.
3.) TPE
4.) KIX

If AKL is chosen, I guess it will be seasonal service, similar to SFO-AKL.

Looks like they buried in the announcement that HKG-SIN is gone October 27. Wow! Yikes for those of us on the east coast who preferred to connect in HKG.

Now is their domestic/shorthaul network at LAX strong enough to support this flight. Or is it geared mainly for LAX O&D traffic?

fly in and out of LAX multiple times a year and wished they wouldn't downgrade, but they have over the years and increasing SFO. SFO is the gateway to Asia so there you go.

LAX has the O&D to support the premium cabin and a decent amount of economy. Their short haul network is good enough for the rest.
