The Fleet Status site is:

https://sites.google.com/site/unitedfleetsite/

At the site, you can find information about the interior features, livery, etc., for every plane in United's fleet.

To determine which plane your flight will be on go to mobile.united.com and then click on flight status. Put in the flight number for your flight and just have it use today's date (occasionally it'll say flight not operated on this date in which case just choose one of the other 3 dates it lists). In the address bar you'll see something like this:

mobile.united.com/FlightStatus/FlightDetails?carrierCode=UA&flightNumber=415&flig htDate=9%2F15%2F2015&origin=JFK&destination=SFO

https://mobile.united.com/FlightStatus/FlightDetails?carrierCode=UA&flightNumber=415&flig htDate=9%2F15%2F2015&origin=JFK&destination=SFO

Just change the flight date to match the day of your scheduled flight and then change the origin / destination as necessary. Once you do that look in the details tab under aircraft # and if they have assigned a plane it'll say something like #3506 and the type of plane. Once you know that go to the United Fleet website listed above and cross-reference the four digit number against the "aircraft" column under the appropriate aircraft type.

Keep in mind that things change as they get closer and sometimes either they won't have assigned an aircraft yet or it'll be assigned #0 if it's a few days away and they are anticipating aircraft movement.

You may also check the specific fleet variant of each flight at the United Cargo site under "Schedules & tracking". This data tends to be reliable starting 7 days in advance, but is always subject to change.

319:
N852UA entered LCQ 2156/26Jul, probably for slimline

320:
N402UA is now flying again
N420UA is in DEN, line maint
N421UA in SFO, line maint
N430UA and N483UA show having row 38, therefore slimline
N465UA is in LCQ

744: thanks for catching N117UA

Other changes (excluded narrowbody line maint)

738:
N77525 entered INT 2146/26Jul, probably for WiFi
N76519 exited INT 2147/26Jul with Wifi

739:
N75433 entered INT 2144/25Jul. probably for WiFi
N69829 exited INT 2145/26Jul
Looks like that could be the last of the totally dark 739s as N68822 is in INT and all others have DirecTv, WiFi or both.
Thanks for the clarification with the A320s Bunky! Keep up the good work!

On another note, I believe the WiFi on the 753 (N73860) only works while flying over the mainland since the vendor for that aircraft is LiveTV, just as is the case with the 737s. Has anyone been on N73860 to Hawaii or Caribbean and tried to access the WiFi since it was installed?

United Airlines Fleet Updates [2014 Thread]

How does one access channel nine on a 767-400? I'm flying one on Saturday and was happy to see on the fleet website that channel nine is installed. However, I flew this a/c once before and I couldn't find it.

What gives?

If I recall correctly you access channel 9 by viewing the map.

Thanks for the quick response!

So all you have to do is go to map and if the captain turned it on, it'll automatically play?

Is it blacked out or does UA turn it off?

I believe that the onboard equipment detects when the aircraft is in Chinese airspace and deactivates the Wi-Fi service.

Do you mean the new configuration will be the lay flat seats?

Not sure who the vendor is as the 12 ex TZ 753s do not have DirecTv.
Since the aircraft fly heavily to Hawaii, would UA install domestic WiFi? I guess you could watch streaming content like watching canned movies on the other 753s or 738s.

The vendor for the ex TZ 753s is actually Panasonic Avionics Corporation. I found a tweet from May 2014 on the official Twitter page of Panasonic Avionics Corporation stating that the aircraft had exited SFO with WiFi. Therefore, I would think the WiFi on the 757-300 works overwater.

This system gets location information from the aircraft GPS system and will automatically shut off in Chinese airspace.

Looks like N18243 is the first 738 with slimline seats and the configuration of 16/54/96. This aircraft does have DirecTV and WiFi.

A320: N438UA shows slimline seats were installed while the aircraft was at SFO.

FYI, the 738s and 739s with DirecTV and soon to be former midlav 738s (20/132) will have DirecTV after they are reconfigured with slimline seats. The 739s without DirecTV will have personal device entertainment in the future.

320: N468UA has its WiFiStream in operation now
744: N128UA now has WiFiStream in Y cabin

Also, the WiFi onboard the A319s and A320s has coverage in Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. It is only the 737s who's coverage is limited to the mainland United States.
