Updates to Wiki as of 20 January 2014
Planned changes in aircraft by date and route:
SFO -- SYD: first 772 departs SFO 27 March; turns to 840 at SYD on 29 March
LAX -- SYD: first 772 departs LAX 29 March; turn off 840-29th.
NRT -- ORD: First 744 departs NRT 27 March (aircraft turn at ORD to PVG and FRA in succession the day following arrival from NRT)
ORD -- NRT: First 744 departs ORD 31 March
ORD -- PVG: First 744 departs ORD 28 March
PVG -- ORD: First 744 departs PVG 29 March
ORD -- FRA: First 744 departs ORD 29 March
FRA -- ORD: First 744 departs FRA 30 March
NRT -- SFO: 852 to operate with 772 27 March through 31 March inclusive (772 coming out of rotation)

This is what was communicated:
"Last year we decided to move all of this flying to SFO to improve the reliability of this fleet. Now that reliability has been restored, and we have a plan in place to better support the fleet, we can put the 747 on the routes that are better suited for the number of passengers the 747 carries."

Too bad the 747 won't fly ORD-SFO. I miss that early ORS-SFO-NRT flight. 10AM.

As several people stated above, those sUA 777s will have a huge payload restriction operating to SYD. Very surprised to hear this.

Surprised to see this, sUA 777s are not designed or configured for flights of this length... Guess those who are adamant towards having an F cabin will get to enjoy frequent tech stops in HNL.

We can all breathe a huge sigh of relief. sUA basically stays sUA, just remix.
Even though I flew the formerly last 747 out of ORD I congratulate ORD getting the queen back.
KIX is seemingly thinner so 787 isn't a bad option.
ORD-HKG no 747? The CX (airline not mechanical) effect?
Btw Thanks to Jose for the update. A pity you weren't on my NRT-SIN-NRT turns this summer.

UA used to run the 772 LAX-AKL with their de-rated pratts (and also was the longest 1-engine ETOPS diversion. I was always nervous flying that ETOPS 180 route.) Maybe a 787 will eventually show up on the route and tag out to OZ to increase lift. Nah...that would mean UA is restoring service...silly me.
