The last thing I did was look for South African flights between JNB and Kruger National Park. At first, it showed the airport. Then it refused to admit there was an airport (MQP), and then it refused to let me in due to "maintenance". It's business hours here in America. What ARE they thinking?

Wow - no chance this was preplanned. So much for making that flight reservation. It's getting harder and harder not to end up on AA.com

It's not an update. The site bombed, bad. Updates would happen at 2am on a saturday or something. This is what happens when you roll the dice on low cost IT. Smisek just crapped out.

Seriously, I want some speculation on what this costs them per minute of downtime. Most companies have a figure for that sort of thing, right?

Agree.
I used to be a systems analyst......after punchcards, before the Internet.
Definitely don't do a systems upgrade/change mid-day on a Tuesday.

Incredible that it's still been down an hour. What excuses will be made for this IT "glitch"?

So there's nothing to see here folks, move along. Just a minor hiccup. Ancillary system needed a reboot.
"minor" hiccup?
The entire website down for about an hour (and still down) in the middle of business hours?

I'm pretty sure they lost more money from this crash than that 4 miles HKG fare fiasco.
