If you rely on miles you didn't rightfully earn and find on 20 December 2012 that they have been taken away, will you hurry and book a flight to make up the miles? Complain to MileagePlus they took something you didn't deserve and ask to carry forward your status into the following calendar year? I am currently looking at some extra half segments in my account that I know I don't really deserve. If they get taken away over the next couple of months, I'll treat it as one more merger glitch, and not a big deal. If they are still in my account next fall, I'm going to forget where they came from and how many I really deserved, and I'm going to rely on them when planning my yearend travel. I will not be happy at all if they disappear at the end of the year, with no time to adjust. We went through something like this last year. UAI assured folks that no one would lose status, but at least one person was reporting a problem. So, United, here's my request. Please let us know SOON if you are going to treat this error as an accidental benefit of flying during March or if you plan to adjust our accounts as soon as you can. Thanks! |

Unless what you receive is what you're entitled to, it's not a positive experience. It doesn't matter that you might have gotten more than you should have, and sure, that feels good now...

The "bonus" miles ("glass half full") I received were RDMs. If they take them away later it won't affect my status as the PQMs I was awarded were correct. I still feel that I've had a positive experience, particularly after reading these threads for days. |

nycity, we don't mean to jump on you. We're having a really, really bad time with this fubar merger. |
Super weird upgrade experience today flying a LAX-BOS transcon.
- Tried to upgrade myself with RPU weeks before flight. Waitlisted. Lots of F availability until 2 days before flight, suddenly F cabin fills up completely. Upgrades getting processed before me at a window cutoff time or did a lot of seats suddenly sell? Or a system glitch that explains what happened later? Who knows. - Waitlisted upgrade expires. Added to standby CPU queue. RPU not redeposited. - Arrive at airport; monitors say F cabin full; I'm #3 on upgrade waitlist. Figure there's no chance. - Overhear GA telling group of FAs that SFO desperately wanted LAX to send them GAs who know how to use SHARES. Said it was pointless because they couldn't get it to work properly either. - GA announces F cabin full, all those standing by for upgrades should board with their original seat assignments. - Boarding starts. Even though I'm right there, there's a huge line for Group 1 immediately. Which is lucky for me because: - Half way through boarding Group 1, GA calls about 5 of us to the podium. I go out of line and head to podium, we all get our upgrades. Didn't want to bug the GA to ask what happened. My best guess is that the new automatic checkin was responsible. I got automatic checked in even though I'm pretty sure I deselected the option for it to do so when I checked in for the outbound. If it automatically checked in a bunch of F pax that ended up being no-shows, the GAs would have no way of knowing until the last minute, right? Or maybe the system choked and thought F was full when it really wasn't? Any other theories? |

I flew on 3/16 on a Z fare. The miles posted a few days later. I think I received too many RDMs. I was given a 50% RDM bonus for the Z fare and a 75% RDM bonus for being Premier Platinum. I was also given a 50% PQM bonus. Whatever. I'll take it.

Z is now supposed to earn a 50% RDM bonus and a 50%PQM bonus, so your miles did post correctly.
See here. And I forgot to mention that the miles I earned on my Chase United Visa statement of March 21 have already posted to my Mileage Plus account. I don't mean to brag - I'm just trying to point out that the system is working correctly for some and that should be represented here. |

Thanks for the info. That means that everything has worked correctly for me so far.

Indeed, don't mean to jump on anyone. I just don't want to look at anything as being "good" right now, when it isn't. There's a lot to be fixed. I can stand to have new rules, as long as I know what the rules are, and everyone is able to follow them. I do not like it when we're told one thing, it works a different way, and the front line folks don't know which way is right or which end is up. And in no way am I upset with the UA Insider team. They have done a remarkable job under the circumstances. I also fully believe they have been temporarily silenced while some milestones are set and fixes are validated, then we will hear about it. Again, not picking on any of my fellow FTers. |

You are not the only one this is happening to...one of my Assistant Directors (a GS to boot) posted a number a very mellow observations about the merge citing experiences from the DL/NW merge for whom he worked for at the time...and suggested some very inexpensive/no expense fixes that might help the process...They disappeared within 24 hours of posting! He had snail-mailed these to UA corporate a couple of weeks before and heard nothing except from our UA sales rep. offering comp. certs for the problems we had experienced:rolleyes: He was not looking for compensation...rather he was offering his 40 years experience as an airline executive and as a UA flyer (2-3K per year)
As Mrs. 1KPath commented..."as soon as a lawyer controls an organization, logic and experience are immediately discounted... this is rapidly disseminated to the rest of the organization resulting in the the attitude that he/she (the lawyer executive) knows best in spite of having gone to only a trade school...AKA law school"...and this from a J.D.,Ph.D. law school professor and Associate Dean who teaches business law! Her mantra has always been "in successful businesses, lawyers are support staff!" |

I flew SFO-IAD next day return twice in 2 weeks, in February. All four flights had ~8-9 seats in F open for weeks until about 2 days before the flight, then they suddenly filled up. This was pre-merger, so GS and 1K were clearing UG's at 120 and 100 hrs, well ahead of 2 days prior to the flight. Yet, I watched both the F and E seats and it didn't seem that anyone was moving en masse from E to F at those windows, nor afterward. Then again, I don't have a lot of visibility into what has changed between then and now. :D |
MCT Time Bug ?
I just discovered that the new site will show flight options (at least in this case for an award booking) that can't be ticketed.
In this case, I found a domestic connection at LAX with a 37 minute layover. EF shows a 40 minute domestic-domestic MCT for LAX for widebodies, but a general 30 minute connection time for all of these. I'm wondering if there's some logic that's misinterpreting the MCT logic? I was trying to change an award flight that was booked. I just get an error when I actually proceed to ticket it. |

Perhaps the F cabin suddenly filled up with last-minute purchases. This may not have anything to do with being on a new reservation system, and the changes that it may have brought, or not.

This has probably been posted...
but they charge non-elites for E+ on p.s. flights when E+ is all that is offered. $99 to be exact, and since there is no way to de-select a seat, you have to start completely over (or pay). |

Truth in reporting delays. ?
Yesterday my flight was delayed. We pushed from the gate ontime but sat on the tarmac. The delay was announced by the Captain as still having to complete weight and balance paperwork/calculations. When I landed looked at the UA website to see the reason given. The website said ATC. This does not seem right.
