I would use the term "safe BBQ". Okay, but nothing special.
Kinda like the Outback of BBQ places.

Define "close to IAH". There's a Rudy's about 20 minutes away. ;)

Yes. totally agreed.

My LH flights post in about 24 hours after flight. And usually, the first segment is on CO....(before connecting to LH), and that segment takes 3 or more days to post.

US, UA flights post in 1 or 2 days for me.

Not a ton to do in tulsa for a night, but i would check out cherry street or brookside. Both have some nice restaurants and stores.

although if you are wanting a nice beer selection and some decent food, check out McNellies downtown, one of my favorites, and an amazing selection of beers on tap.

Yes. Thursday, April 26 - Sunday, April 30, 2012.

We are thinking of making The Salt Lick the regular Sunday-ending event for all future Austin Mega Do's because it was so popular a venue, but it will be changed substantially otherwise.

This is in direct conflict with the fifth Tour de France DO in Montpellier. We are the only Americans who have been to every one of them but we also had been very much looking forward to Austin.

This is not good especially since in the past I have been involved in some of the planning for the Tour de France events and meet with the organizers there a couple of months in advance to go over the ground and lend some North American ideas and critique.

That is not to mention that I get a chance to join in serious previews of the alcoholic choices (and the foie gras :D) in helping to decide on what will be presented to the group.

The Tour De France DO sounds exciting. I am not quite sure of my schedule obviously. But, will be interested in it.

Have a good night all.

Outstanding! Ran 4 miles this morning. Do a lot of "hill work", and it was made oh so  by alternating cross-winds and tail-winds. Was a wee tired thereafter.:D

I could not imagine running a marathon in the great city where IAH nearby resides. The heat and humidity must wreak total havoc with running:eek:

While this is good to know, we are in a bit of a bind as far as the timing is concerned. I'll try to explain. ;)

We wanted to move this to later in the year than the end of February - early March because of the difficulty some folks had with getting to Austin from the East Coast in 2010. However, we need to have it early enough in the year to keep Festervus from taking someone's life, but past all of the SXSW craziness. So, April seemed like the best month.

As for the dates chosen, in 2012 Lent is not over for me until April 16th. My apologies, but I'm not going to watch everyone eat meat again while I eat sides. :) So, we have two weeks to work with before May.

We could just as easily change the date to Thursday, April 19 - Sunday, April 22, 2012, but I'm not sure how to best allow everyone to give us feedback on that (a poll maybe?) and if you are leaving for Europe the next week, would you be willing to make this trip to Austin if we did?

For me -- actually moving it to that week before would be better, as our district has their spring break Apr. 23-27, so the earlier weekend works!

Yes, the humidity was rough. But I grew up in a high humidity area (South India). So, it didnt bother me. Also..i Used to run real early in the morning, like 4:30AM, etc....I doubt if I will try those distances again.

Yeah, the "very early" run helps with heat and humidity. I do a mix of treadmill and outdoor running. I am not teh most athletic person on the planet, so I generally keep it around 7.5 minute miles or so with a little faster if not working "distance". No one will mistake me for the superhero "Flash". :D

The overwhelming probability is that I would be able to get to AUS (although possibly solo). Customarily we would not leave for France before the Thursday evening.

There are others whom I know who might probably like to get to both events. I think that a poll might be of value.

I posted a poll in another travel-related web site and have asked the moderators of the Community Buzz forum to post one for me here at Flyertalk. When they get the poll configured, it will reside on this thread:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/commu...l#post16206174

Voting will be open for 2 weeks. I don't want to stretch the final decision to longer than the end of this month.
