Upgrade for BOS-LAX on UA tomorrow morning has cleared.

New EQL and I get to ride up front. Things haven't started to suck too much yet today, though I also cannot check in online as the flight coupon is missing.

Mackieman May 3, 2011 11:56 am

Time to find something to do with my $350 E-Cert.

If he has never had it before, it would be interesting to see his reaction to East Carolina style BBQ. :)

Indeed, but there is nothing available under 9cpm out of AUS. :9

An interesting idea, but I'd like to stick to E+ on mainline UA if possible. MCI and RDU don't see to much mainline UA (nor does AUS for that matter).

It's...different. I am not a fan of the sauces but the meat is good. It's not as good as what we have down here but it certainly isn't bad in most cases. :)

I, for one, really do like those vinegary sauces. This came into frequent play when I was working in the Triangle and out to Rocky Mount and Greenville.

Apparently I'm going to get a healthy dose as my compatriot who is based in CLT is planning on hauling me up to Lexington, NC for what he says is the best in the state. We'll see.

I've been to CLT a fair number of times and have done road trips out of CLT up to three states away from there, but despite my best intentions, I never made it to Lexington. :(

There are places in Lexington that are absolutely great (I forget the names since the last time that I spent any amount of time there was 25 years ago when I was doing a deal with a guy who owned a piece of one of them).

However, the West Carolina-Piedmont 'cue is a lot different from the eastern. Instead of the classic eastern chopped in vinegary sauce, the Piedmont stuff is cooked crusty and served without a lot of sauce. When it is done correctly, it should be nearly perfect for those Texas tastebuds.

I was in NYC throughout the whole thing and wow what a mess it is in the Big Apple... People celebrated like crazy, some of the metro stations closed up, news were all over ground zero for an interview yesterday afternoon... I took the PATH to WTC then connected to the E metro line to drop a friend off at JFK...

Evening, Box.

I used the extension of the CO travel waiver to adjust the routing of my upcoming ICN mileage run. Was flying ICN-NRT-EWR-DFW, am now flying ICN-NRT-HNL-ORD-DFW (whew!). Of course, this raises a few questions:

1. Can I upgrade the return with UA miles given my outbound was upgraded with a CO SWU?

2. Even if possible, should I do a mileage upgrade?

3. Assuming I rely on UDU, should I use my 1P number on the itinerary for higher UDU placement and potentially "forfeit" the CO MM BIS miles or use my Onepass number and risk losing out on an upgrade as UA 1Ps and CO PEs get auto-upgraded ahead of me? I can try to switch the number mid-trip, but that carries some risk of screwup, and UA considers time added to UDU list as a factor.

What happened? As I will be spending an inordinate amount of time in US F in a couple of weeks, I am keenly interested on recent experiences.

Greetings from the LAX RCC. Made a SDC to a later LAX-SAN flight to ensure sufficient time to dine at In-n-Out for lunch today. Yummeh!

Don't go through PHL. airport with non-existent signage, non-existent gate agents, incompetent ops dept, and unprofessional FAs that would just as soon laugh at their passengers' questions to their face and tell them how the FAs are worse off because of these 2hrs+ that we've been stuck on PHL's ramp in a packed 319 than we are. That is assuming some passenger actually dared to distract them from the all-important task of completely ignoring the 150 people in their charge.

I honestly don't remember my schedule for tomorrow. I think I'm pretty light (as far as meetings go anyway) and can maintain an earlier Meeting of the Order of the Knights Well Smoked™, but I will verify and let you guys know in the morning.

Great, I have to transit PHL twice. Hopefully the morning sun will vanquish the terrible night.

As long as you're not in Terminal F'ed (which you won't be), you'll be fine. In the worst case scenario you can put up the  sign and I'll bring you beer. :-:

ETA how many times are you connecting? There are no flights AUS-PHL.
