There is very little normal about COVID-19, so while not everyone is like this, loss of appetite is a key feature of the symptoms. It may also be among the last things to change (tiredness is also a bit of lingerer unfortunately and I'm sure you won't want to hear that). As food / nutrition goes a turkey sub is also fairly complex, so you may want to keep to more simple foods. It's not unusual for men to lose 5 or even 10 kgs from a bad COVID bout.

Although I was very mildly hit and tested negative on day 5 I also have little appetite. Eating bland and trying to drink a lot.

I hope you don't get any worse, I wouldn't wish what I had on anyone.

Today's weekly data from the ONS survey. In the week ending 17th June 2022:

One in 40 people in England had Covid (last week one in 50)
One in 45 in Wales had Covid (last week one in 45)
One in 30 in Northern Ireland had Covid (up from one in 45)
One in 20 in Scotland had Covid (up from one in 30)

Much of England is showing increases in cases though the south is looking better and the south-east falling slightly. The fine weather down here may be helping us.

Best wishes to HB7, I hope you are feeling better today.

Much appreciated DaveS, I’m on the mend and today is better than yesterday. Finally tested negative today, which is a big big relief.

I still have quite a bit of fatigue and little appetite, and a really bad sore throat.

Just a thought for anyone who has a horrible sore throat, warm water with half a teaspoon of salt (as per NHS website), appears to be quite effective. I woke up feeling like there were daggers cutting my throat and after two rounds of salt water throughout today, at least for now, I’m feeling much much better.

The sore throat should fade away fairly soon, cough sweets and throat lozenges help some people as well as saline gargles. The fatigue may take a little longer to get completely over, it's like small improvements over several days. That test result makes it difficult to spread the disease to others so you should be ok to go out and about tomorrow. Just take it easy for another few days and avoiding making plans for the evenings. You are unlikely to get COVID again for several months now, so that's one thing.

Yeh I don't plan on making any major evening plans and I'll continue taking a break from exercise for at least a week or so. I have some small errands to run this weekend, hopefully I can get through without too many issues.

Yes!! That's an odd one isn't it? Not so much a loss of appetite, more repugnance at a design that condemns us to a lifetime of consumption and evacuation. Hopefully I'll get more cheerful over coming days. But for the moment I'm close behind you in progress through the disease, and sat contemplating my AllBran and chopped up banana for some time this morning, before putting it in the fridge.

I echo CWS's comments on fatigue and cooking. I'm appalled at the thought of preparing veg and putting chicken thighs under the grill. I might have to make do with the AllBran festering in the fridge.

If reporting variations in symptoms is helpful, my chills and sweats cycle slowly through the day, as does a general wooziness. The oddest symptoms i note is raised levels of impatience and anxiety - not anxiety about my condition, but generalised.

All in all though, I'm relieved the inevitable finally arrived, and arrived at this time: I recently returned from a long trip with nothing planned for a few weeks.

Ah best of luck! I'm still not back to eating what I want to eat, so I hope that is rectified soon! Are you still testing positive?

Yes - yesterday's faintest of faint test lines turned into a strong black bar today.

Depressing - i think I won't test again until i feel significantly better !

The one advantage of testing is knowing how much longer you've got. I've put a daily test photo upthread, and you will note that I was able to fairly accurately guess when HB7 would get clear. But if you have got from thin to black you can safely not test for 3 days, no-one gets over that in under 4 days. Commiserations, I always love these people who say it was "mild" for them, since for many it's not!

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that! That is a horrible thing I can imagine! Hopefully you fully recover and test negative soon. I can't believe this thing has still got us this badly over two years later. I saw a recent interview with Bill Gates saying we won't get past this till some long-term vaccines are developed. I hope that happens soon. I shudder at the thought that I may go through what I just went through again in coming years.

Just tested positive in my Vegas hotel room. Every other poker player in Vegas has been catching (and spreading) it by all accounts. Will only go out to get lie in the sun (well away from anyone else) and get food takeout (masked). Any idea how long i will likely be contagious?

I’ve heard the casino hotels will kick people out if positive so will have to keep it to myself.

It’s a little disturbing how many other peoples attitudes are “everyone else is playing with covid so who cares do it anyway”, which I will not do. Unfortunately I was sat in close proximity to a lot of people over the course of the last 48 hours for extended times.

Thankfully in 95% fine, like last time, with just a small cold blended with a hangover.
