I thought there was a stock of Moderna arriving as well? They might as well carry on with AZ for first doses of over 40s and start the younger cohorts with Moderna then, and any excess Pfizer (though I don't think there is much of that one about right now).

Wait....so does this mean now people in their 30s have to wait till the Novavax vaccine is approved for us to get a vaccine???? That could be months away.

I hope not. It was supposed to be approved in April, so maybe in May?

It doesn't appear so if it causes delays. Pfizer and Moderna are already available as approved alternatives.

the JCVI has advised a preference for adults aged 30 to 39 without underlying health conditions to receive an alternative to the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine – where available and only if this does not cause substantial delays in being vaccinated.

Not sure, that there are enough doses. And anyway, there are already some younger people being vaccinated now and they would get Moderna or Pfizer

Hmm, yes...previously, the rumor was that 35-39 year old's will be invited at some point next week. Wondering if that now has to be postponed.

Are there particular places seeing case spikes?

Almost certainly. Don't forget there is also a spike in testing leading to a better idea of the number of people in an area who have the disease (symptomatic or otherwise) and a much better idea of what proportion gets seriously ill. At the moment, it seems cases are at a plateau yet less people are getting ill while the number of people going into hospital, on ventilator and so on are going down. Could be beer fuelled optimism from this afternoon's longer than usual Friday Virtual Pub, but it all looks positive to me. Speaking of pub.... Just over one week to go!

The PHE Covid dashboard shows the different local authorities and there are spikes in the North, NI and one lonely LA in Scotland, amongst others.

Am I correct that Collision is the only same day test to release option? Any issue doing it on a Sunday? Or for a three year old?

(Sorry, realized I posted this in the wrong forum)

Expresstest has managed same day for me, but not guaranteed.

Torcuil Crichton, of Scotland's Daily Record, asks if there is a four-nations agreement on the new system being announced today.

Grant Shapps says he has spoken with the devolved administrations and all four of the UK's chief medical officers have met and agreed the principles behind the traffic light system.

He points out that there elections in Wales and Scotland so the governments are in flux and says it might take a few days for the administrations to lay out what they will do.

But he says that he suspects that "by and large" we will see the same conclusions as "the science is the science".

We were vaccinating late 20s today! Well probably a mild act of desperation, but still I've been jabbing quite a few 30 plus this week.

And yes, to correct a few points
- Under 40s are being offered Pfizer and Moderna by preference, but many will still be offered AZ if this gets them jabbed sooner.
- We are still vaccinating Under 30s with AZ, which remains the more popular choice up here with patients. But is must be an informed consent and we have to walk them through a particular chart before we give them AZ.
