Yes, as of today, and it's peer reviewed too. A delay will reduce the chance of death to the person vaccinated, and not taking into account the fact that more people will be vaccinated leading to a separate and greater death (etc) reduction.

For AZ the impact should be greater than this.

I would have been mightily surprised if the conclusion was any different, given the way the immune system works.

Do you know what is the time interval between two jabs in Israel ?
In Germany we are more or less 6 weeks, mine is 5 weeks (BioNtech vaccine).

Ordered a new antibody test and ticked I've had a vaccine to see if I'd get a different type of antibody test and sent it away, it's already back and negative again.

I'm a hep b vaccine non-responder and have read that at my age nearly everybody has antibodies from Pfizer after two weeks, and I'm already at week 4. All that combined with having had no side effects at all makes me really worries me I'm a non responder to covid vaccines too.

Guess I definitely have to scrap Israel as a possible trip.

:D! May 13, 2021 6:27 am

Just booked vaccine for next Tuesday. Text from GP promised Pfizer.... I'm 33.

My wife is 32 and didn't get a text. We wanted to get it a few days to a week apart anyway, in case we become temporarily incapacitated as we have a baby to look after

Most people I know who had Pfizer have had no side effects at all, apart from a slightly sore arm for a day or so.

I'm also a Hep B non-responder, but I did get an AZ vaccine antibody response on both doses. As I say, it's probably down to the way you have processed the vaccine, I personally would not have any concerns but by all means mention it to the GP given your other helath factors. The second dose may show something but even if it doesn't the limitations of antibody testing in this space are well documented.

Almost everyone in Israel got dose2 on day 21 exactly, due to the conditions of the deal that Israel made with Pfizer.

Pharmacy will mean AZ. Anywhere else you could try for spare Pfizer? I would imagine that turning up at the end of the day at a Pfizer clinic with your back story would put you top of the list for spares.

Local (Hertfordshire) mass vac centres are bringing patients booked in for second jabs over the next 4 weeks forward by a couple of weeks, then turning over to do Pfizer only for the younger age groups. I've also heard the the guidelines that allowed doctors to risk assess the under 40s to give AZ has now been blocked, strictly no first jabs of AZ for under 40s.

I just called to check and they said the system knows what you had for your first jab, and will only schedule you an appointment for the same so it will be Pfizer.

She also said that because I'm <40 I wouldn't be offered AZ anyway and the system would only let them offer me Pfizer or Moderna.

I guess we'll see what happens when I get there next week.......

Just tried to book online my 2nd dose (Pfizer) and it is letting me book around 3-4 weeks after my 1st dose. A bug or intentional for those that can make it?

Edit: Maybe it is intentional, as it knows I had my vaccine yesterday as it wants me to have the 2nd at least 3 weeks later. There are slots available, this is just if I change the postcode area.

I did the same, to see if I could replicate your experience, and it showed a Chemist in Southall with availability for June 4th. I've been jabbed. I've held up on booking a slot because I don't know if it's meant to be this way and I wouldn't want to take anyone's place.

Same, which I thought was random! Also showed the centre in Southampton and Salisbury for me. Have always wanted to visit those spires....

That is what I thought. I guess we should see some long term difference in efficiency then.

Daily data:

Cases 2,657 (2,613 last Thursday)
Deaths 11 (13)
Patients admitted 99 (121 on the 3rd)
Patients in hospital 1,098 (1,289 on the 4th)
Patients on ventilator 136 (182 on the 5th)
People vaccinated up to and including 12 May 2021:
First dose: 35,906,671
Second dose: 18,890,969

The rolling seven day daily average for cases is now up 12.4% on the previous week and the same measure for deaths is down 16%. No big changes in the data today. The hospital figures are still improving. Also, the number of vaccinations given has picked up a bit, at 636,647 yesterday.

This is hopefully where we start to see convincing evidence for the vaccine programme that any layman can understand. Uncomfortably close to my manor, Bolton is a bit of a petri dish at the moment and enough might well catch the Indian variant to prove either way if causes problems for the exiting vaccines.

All residents of Blackburn with Darwen over 18 years of age are now offered the vaccine, with immediate effect. Additional vaccination capacity is also being added. I think it's actually 16 years plus but that is what the email says.

This is good news. I was hoping they would do that, all areas with variants should have vaccines offered to all adults.
