Not booked in yet - they said i'll get a link soon.

Does anyone see their vaccine status on their NHS app by any chance? I heard Matt Hancock say we should do by Monday if I'm correct?

mine appeared within 48hrs after my shot. i remember it was not there the next day, but i cannot recall if it was later that evening or on day 2 that it appeared.

Nice - thanks for that!

I'm being told that the Brentford Leisure centre vaccination centre is open for walk-ins towards the end of the day. Initially they were saying above 45 years of age, but I know of a friend of mine who got jabbed at 40 and, literally now, another who's 38 but recently has had twins and has been getting so little sleep that he could pass for Gandalf the Grey... Neither had appointments.

Just wanted to say a big thank you for this. I (29) went down this evening to Brentford Leisure Centre and there was quite big queue, but I stuck it out for about 3 hours and managed to get a spare dose of Pfizer! They do a lot of scare-mongering in the queue saying you definitely won't get it from a certain point on, I was about 10 or so people behind this 'cut off'. I guess the scare-mongering worked in my favour as it encouraged a few people to leave and give up. Anyone thinking of doing it, I would suggest going early around 4pm to be more certain, I arrived at 5pm and didn't get in until 8pm. Thank you also to C-W-S for all the information you've been providing on the vaccine rollout and how it works, without your shared knowledge I likely would have given up on the queue!

You will only easily see your vaccine status on the NHS app after the second dose. But this thread gives information about what you can do in the meantime:

(It's for UK residents rather than citizens)

Needle phobia is common and not something to be too concerned about so long as you know about it, and doesn't stop you getting important vaccines and so long as you can communicate it clearly in a health care setting. It's not something that usually needs treatment, indeed it's quite appropriate to be very wary about sharp things! I've given some advice here:

It may well let you book the 2nd dose online tomorrow through the NHS online booking platform. Worth a try anyway.

My vaccine appeared in the app today, so 24 hours later.

There is now further evidence that delaying the second jab is a good thing, also on an individual level. A higher antibody response was observed in 80+ year olds. Should we assume the same is true for younger age groups? https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/news/la...-response.aspx

Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre - Update

From the ChiswickW4 website:

If you are over 18 you may be able to get a Covid-19 vaccine by going to the Brentford Fountains Leisure centre towards the end of the day.

Unadministered doses are being given out regardless of age after 5.30pm from Monday to Thursday. There is no guarantee there will be spare vaccines and you may need to queue for some time before receiving them. There were reportedly teething problems with the queueing system on the first day of operation this Wednesday (12 May) with people waiting for over three hours before being told there were no doses left. It is hoped that in future staff will be able to advise people when they join the queue if there is a chance of the vaccine being available for them.

You will need to bring photo ID and your NHS number if you have one.
Chiswick's Local Web site

Indeed the other day there was a bit of a kerfuffle with people queuing for a few hours, only to be told they were out of vaccines and they could get a booking for a future slot... except that the bookers had closed for the evening. My neighbours who've gone there yesterday found it better and said that if you get there at 4.30/4.45ish you're pretty much guaranteed a place. Nobody asked them if they were residents so no need to practice your best Mc Grindah impersonation I guess. They were doing Pfizer yesterday.

Oh, bring a brolly or some wet weather gear as there's little cover and it was pi**ing yesterday.

The BMJ study upthread indicates that it's a fairly complex area, and they suggested delaying the younger cohorts rather than older people, due to their better risk profile. But 3 weeks is just too short, from the way immune conversion and boosters work. It's important to appreciate that the second dose adds longevity and takes immune response from "high enough" to "more than high enough". Personally I'd say 8 weeks for those over 50, 16 weeks for those under 50, and no second dose to anyone under 50 who has had a confirmed positive PCR. That's too clunky for everyday life, so realistically the UK's stance of "over 8 weeks, under 12 weeks but we won't panic if it's 14 weeks" is probably sensible.[The Birmingham study is fairly small in scale].

Do we have any updates on the J&J in the UK?

This is great, thank you. The council website doesn't mention parking - is the car park open at Fountains? And if necessary are there any tips for people from Kingston to pass as more Hounslow? :D

Trackies? Wife-beater tops are really good for vaccinations, as it happens.

I think you've confused Upon-Thames with Upon-Hull, sir.

I'll give it a try today or tomorrow. Have you had any side effects? My arm is a bit painful, but thankfully nothing more as yet.

there did seem to be a weird thing going on with politicians early on who were almost stripping off to the waist for photo opportunities being vaccinated. Have they never been vaccinated before?

a short sleeve t shirt was fine for me, easily roll up the sleeve to above the top of the arm and gave plenty of space to be jabbed.
