Please note that this thread discusses only TK operations from the new airport. There will be no discussion of the politics involved. These can take place in OMNI PR. Anyone interested in general issue surrounding the new airport may find these in the "Europe" forum. The usual FT rules apply.
For a general discussion about the airport, not related to TK, please visit: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/europe/1955797-istanbul-new-airport-ist-isl-master-thread.html
Lounge questions have now a dedicated thread: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/turkish-airlines-miles-smiles/1963594-tk-istanbul-airport-thread-2-lounges.html

This is the list of all Istanbul Airport threads where you could find more details related to your question if it's discussed in one of the forums below.

TK in Istanbul Airport: Thread #1 - General Discussion ( YOU ARE HERE )
This is the thread that you could ask your questions about the airport related to Turkish Airlines which doesn't have a dedicated thread. For example questions about check-in desks, the Miniport service, fast-track security, care points, etc... could be asked here if they are directly or indirectly related to TK.
TK in Istanbul Airport: Thread #2 - Lounges
This is the thread dedicated for lounges and questions about the TK lounges at Istanbul Airport. Sleeping rooms in the lounge could be discussed in the third thread as it's mainly related to longer connections. Please do refer to the respective threads in the Europe forum for other contract lounges at Istanbul Airport and PriorityPass lounges.
TK in Istanbul Airport: Thread #3 - Stopover Hotel, Touristanbul, Sleeping Rooms
This is the thread for passengers booked a long connection. The thread has a guide that would give basic information about the free city tour, the stopover hotel option for eligible passengers as well as the sleeping rooms in the lounges in Istanbul Airport. For issues onlyrelated hotel suggestions refer to the Europe forum.
TK in Istanbul Airport: Thread #4 - Transferring/Transit at Istanbul Airport
This is the thread were you could ask your questions about any type of transfer at Istanbul Airport. Such as what to do within a xxx hour layover, or facilities at the transfer area directly related to transit issues. Also questions related to transfer security, immigration in single/seperate tickets could be discussed here. As well as what to do in case of misconnections. The transfer hotel where passengers could access by paying: YOTEL has a dedicated thread where you could find here.
TK in Istanbul Airport: Thread #5 - Miles&Smiles Card Pickup at Istanbul Airport
If you want to pickup your Miles&Smiles card in Istanbul Airport, please consult this thread where you would be able to find the locations of the card print points for Miles&Smiles members.

There are also threads not only related to the TK pax but to all passengers traveling from Istanbul Airport. These take place in the Europe forum.

Istanbul Airport Master Thread
For any question related to the airport instead of TK ( facilities, pay-to-use services not related to TK, transportation, rental car services, hotel services, non-TK lounges ) please consult this thread in the Europe forum. Also please discuss, Flightradar24 related ADS-B issues, delays related to the airport here, unless it's a direct TK issue.
PriorityPass Lounges in Istanbul Airport
There is no PriorityPass Lounges at Istanbul Airport at the moment. However, I would update this thread when there is an available lounge for PriorityPass at the airport.

I (ISTFlyer) have removed the FAQ's as they are now all answered in the respective WIKI sections of the respective forums.

Otherwise, the flights should be available at the flexible option and also, there is no cancellation planned for the late spring season on the LAX route
Ok, I was thinking maybe this was a United.com issue... but it's happening on United, Aeroplan, and ANA websites. These websites are not finding any flights after April 29th. As an example, I searched TK website and found Economy Limited for 30k miles on LAX-IST for April 29th and April 30th. All other websites show 4/29, but show nothing for 4/30 (or any date after that).

So, this is not a question about limited availability. This is a question of why it's not available to partners?

As a big fan of Lounge Istanbul at Ataturk, I'm pleased to hear this. I have a J flight booked for August, mainly to try out the new airport and new TK international lounge.

So, and I do not know the full answer(s), have they received their FAA/TSA, CAA, LBA, ENA, ICAO inspections and certifications yet? They did not have any of them a month ago..................

Today ( 1 FEB ), for the third time a wide body aircraft would be used for a scheduled flight. It would be the first time of A330-200 being used on a scheduled flight to/from ISL ( TK 2124/ TK 2125 ).
Widebodies would be tested on several TK 2124/TK 2125 flights throughout the month.

On 31 Oct 2018 and 25 Jan 2019; Boeing 777-300ER operated TK2124/TK2125.

It looks like the move is happening? Was trying to book a round trip which departs IST -> LAX on March 2nd and see that no flights are available on that date.

However, the LAX-IST flight ( TK 10 ) on 2 Mar seems to be operated. My friends are booked on that flight and I have verified their reservation on tk.com. Probably they would cancel TK 10 on 1 Mar and TK 9 on 2 Mar. I think that that's how it would work for transatlantic destinations.

So is the consensus that whenever the transition to the new Istanbul airport happens, any currently booked flights for IST will be there instead?

According to this video:

Current international passengers eligible for the lounge are using the domestic lounge. As international flights are departing from concourse D, the temporary lounge at concourse F should have been closed. Has anyone experienced the situation. It sounds a bit weird as the airside connection between the domestic and international has been closed on 10 Jan or do they bus passengers to a dedicated immigration area.

Sounds very weird indeed. If you happen to be an international (business class) passenger, after check-in you normally will go thru the immigration (passport control), 2nd security screening and enter the international airside... And here you make duty free shopping. Let's assume you are in the middle area of the international terminal's airside; straight ahead is Concourse D. How can you go to Concourse G, where the only CIP Lounge is located? Yes, physically you can walk partly thru the south end of Concourse F and expect to find your way to the middle of Concourse G (where the current Domestic CIP Lounge is located). But F and G Concourses are blocked in between with glass panels at the Departures level (note that at INA, Departures Floor is the middle floor, not the top one...) as G is the Domestic Area. Besides that, the domestic CIP Lounge can be entered only thru two ways: either you arrive with your private vehicle and enter the lounge on the apron level (a point between Concourse G and the Main Terminal Body, the reverse side of the apron) and have your check-in & 2nd security screening at that point or by using the two elevators in the middle point of G (couldn't see any stairs or escalators that took you down to the level where the Lounge is located...), when I briefly visited there...). In the more common second option, it means that you have passed thru the 2nd. security screening of the Domestic side and must have entered Concourse G. So how can an international pax, loaded with duty free purchases, may ever enter the Domestic Lounge, where he can easily hand over his purchases to a domestic traveller? There's no pass-thru, for him! Indeed makes little or no sense. Can there be a misunderstanding, here?

TK has added a section about Istanbul Airport on their website and the link clearly stated that all operations would move to Istanbul Airport, on the 3rd of March,

https://www.turkishairlines.com/en-t...faq/index.html

The same website states that TK would use check-in island D to L which are mainly located within the central terminal.
Check-in islands A to C would be used by other domestic carriers and check-in islands M to S would be used by other international airlines. There is no information if AtlasGlobal and OnurAir would use the same check-in counters for their domestic and international flights. Islands E, F & L would be used for self check-in and self baggage drop.
During my visits to Istanbul Airport I have realized that
Entrance 1 is for non TK domestic passengers
Entrance 2 is for TK domestic passengers
Entrances 3 and 4 is for TK international passengers ( Non priority pax )
Entrance 5 is for TK Priority pax
Entrances 6 and 7 is for non TK international passengers

And, this site confirms that there would be 3 different international lounges in Istanbul Airport.
The first one is the Miles&Smiles Lounge which would be used by M&S Elite members and Star Gold passengers, the second one would be the Business Lounge which would be used by Business Class passengers and M&S Elite Plus card holders and the third one Exclusive Lounge ( not advertised on the website ) would probably be a special section like the PPS room in Singapore or like the BA Concorde Rooms. It is now confirmed that Star Gold passengers and Business Class passengers would have different lounges at Istanbul Airport.
There would also be an arrival lounge at Istanbul Airport ( probably the entry requirements would be the same as the one in Atatürk ) and the domestic lounge which serves domestic passengers and which is open to service at the moment. The Elite Plus & Business Class section of the Domestic Lounge is currently used as the crew lounge and would be opened to passengers on the 3rd of March.
One of the international lounges would open to service on the 15th of February, but there is no information about which lounge would open to service.

Another information that could be found on this site is that unlike like Atatürk Airport every Turkish passport holder over the age of 18 would be able to use the automated passport system. In Atatürk Airport, the automated passport control machines are reserved for Tav Passport members.

If I have more information, I would share with the FT community

TK has no designation or class of service such as a PPS, or Concorde Room. My guess is that it will be just like the current "VIP lounge" which is used by all manner of Turkish government official, etc.

Also currently technically the machines are NOT reserved only for TAV Passport passengers per the letter of the agreement..............but that is the way it worked out as the TAV people were supposed to "assist" people, but in fact if one has a Turkish passport and knows how to talk to them, one can in fact use those machines.

Regarding the rest, good to know where the doors are going to be etc. But considering that in the last two days I have looked into about 30 TK flights in and out of IST on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of March and none are delayed, cancelled or anything else, and also considering that it looks like the new airport has not in fact passed certain inspections yet, and the fact that in October and December they waited until less than 2 weeks before the date to postpone their big move, (As well as all the catering and Cargo issues that have gone nowhere), there will be no move of full operations on that date.

The catering and cargo will probably be driven from old IST to ISL each day...

Do&Co operated from an offsite facility in MUC for a long time before they got a spot of land in the airport campus. It can be done, but for a hub the size of IST its a logistical nightmare.
