Looks like Clear may be making a comeback to an airport near you soon.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/04/te...ref=technology The winning bidder, AlClear, is led by two former investment managers and backed in part by Robert V. LaPenta, chief executive of L-1 Identity Solutions, a biometrics company based in Stamford, Conn., that supplied kiosks and other technology to the original Verified Identity Pass. The new company, to be renamed Clear, will be based in New York. Mr. LaPenta and Michael Chertoff, a former secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, will sit on its board. |

When CLEAR actually existed, I didn't really pay attention to it. Besides registering my iris' and forking over my background and some cash, do you actually get to skip skewrity, or does it just take you to the front of the line? If you just get to the front of the line, it sounds like something my elite status would give me for free...

From the recent article listed above it would seem to just run you to the head of the security line. :( Rather pricey if that's all it does.

Not if you work in a place that has a busy airport with no elite security lines. I have missed it badly at SDF where I need to go at least once a month.

Just popped in again to gloat over yet another correct prediction - namely the disgusting so and so's that were CLEAR going bust, and walking away with the money of all the chumps that signed up with them ^

If so, how pointless. A pax could just attain elite status with an airline and use the priority lines. I hope it gives you more, though..

Like MCO - it was great there. It didn't do much at DCA, but it was a godsend at IAD where it shared the crew lines for a while, then shared the diamond lane (that's now used primarily by wheelchairs).
the MCO aviation authority about the issue of not having a priority line. They asked for me to call them back, as they are interested in my opinions about things they could do better for business travelers... |

I completely agree about MCO! FWIW, I sent an email to

It was strictly front of the line privileges. But even at airports like DEN with priority lines those could get very long and clear was worth it. They also did push in front of the lines at the security check.
If you read their history it was meant to be different but there was a lot of infighting going on with the TSA. |
