This was inexcusable! There should be no laptops containing customer information. Or at least no laptop without whole-disk-encryption that contains customer information.

Still flying through MCO is such an awful experience (I need to get there 2 hours in advance to just make a domestic flight at certain times) that I would pay for clear again.

$5 for a replacement card.

I will not pay until I know how much time I have left. I think it is about 10 months.

You're merged, but they walk you up the almost front of the line. Usually behind whomever is next to be screened. The Clear person says "excuse me, Registered Traveler coming through".

And watch it end up at a Nude-O-Scope line. After all, CLEAR travelers already sold their privacy. Why not finish the job?

You don't have to pay anything (except the $5 replacement card fee) until the remaining term of your last membership expires. Your free membership will begin upon your first use of the card or when CLEAR opens in your home market, whichever is sooner. The term will be the amount of time remaining on your previous membership as of June 22, 2009. When you re-register on clearme.com, you can request an email showing EXACTLY when your free membership will expire.

Luckily, I kept my old Clear card! :)

After having been groped by morons hundreds (it feels like thousands) of times, I will settle for the nude-o-scope so that the idiots can let me pass with my metal knee.

The TSA clowns participating in the machine strip search process are still going to end up feeling up a lot of people subjected to the breast/genital-revealing strip search machines. Paying protection racket money to a CLEAR like firm is not going to clear anyone from that.

In my observations, upwards of 70% of the people who are forced through the strip-search machine end up getting groped too.

Not a fan. I was a Clear member and still have time remaining on my card, but I'm not crazy about the request for a social security number to "re-enroll" me. I just don't like giving that out, especially since it's paired with a birth date and other info on their form.

I found Clear at SFO to be totally unnecessary. I've flown 110,000 miles this year on AA and with the exception of one instance where the elite line checker was on break, I've cleared security in 15 minutes or less. MCO is a nightmare and it's too bad they don't just fix it vs creating a pay-for-a-normal-airport-experience.

The other thing I didn't like about Clear was they would very visibly take you to one of the active security lanes and basically tell you to "cut" in front of the line. I always felt bad about this (I'm not a DYKWIA for the most part!) and on one occasion saw a Clear member and another passenger get into a verbal dispute over it.

TSA and the airlines are doing a pretty good job at most airports I fly through.

Now that I've typed this, I'm sure I'll spend 45 mins in security at SFO today! :D

Mine was a little different. I got a similar note, but it started with this:

"CLEAR is back! As new owners, we are thrilled to offer former CLEARmembers a complimentary 45-day membership."

I had multiple years left on my membership when they ceased. I disputed the pro-rated charges with my credit card company who did issue me a refund. So apparently, they've tracked those of us who disputed the charges, and (rightfully) canceled the remaining terms of our membership.

Depending upon how many airports they open up, I may rejoin.

I also had multiple years left on my membership and received a refund from my CC company when Clear ceased operations. However, I received the "reactivation" letter and successfully logged on in the new website.

YAY! CLEAR is back! I am SO glad I kept my card!!!! ^ :D

I travel with someone with a medical implant. Automatic pat-down. Go through the nudo-o-scope (I crack up every time I see that) and they are waved right along. He actually asks for it. If you get the pad down every time you fly and this one lets you walk on by, it's worth it.

^ ^ ^ My metal knee salutes this post. After hundreds of gropes I am ready for this. Got one today in DTW and there was a cursory pat at the rivets on my jeans instead of that unpleasant groping. YMMV but mine is steady on the new technology and I hope that it works.

I trust it is safe because the TSA has assigned SPOTnics to divine that no malfunction has occurred in the device that might cause us to to receive an unacceptable dose of radiation. I never understood why SPOT couldn't be used to make the puffers reliable.

The problem with the new CLEAR program is that the clock will be running on your new membership, even if support for your local airport is still years away.

This post is incorrect.

The e-mails from Clear state that your membership clock starts running when your home airport is put on to the Clear system.
