Comrade Chertoff alone is reason enough for me to never, ever subscribe to this service. :td:

And as a follow-up, IIRC, Chertoff has asserted that one has NO, NADA, NONE expectation of privacy. From an organization that has already breached the customer's trust in that the original data wasn't destroyed.

You are flying at the 'sweet spot' time for most airports. Early AM traffic at MCO can be a real horror. The Expert line is there but quite often, not enforced. Instead it is treated as just another line with a dozen Disney strollers in front of you.
I used to mention this to the TSO but the response I always got was, "You need to speak with a supervisor." Well, who the %%&&* has an extra 1-2 hrs to hunt down a supervisor? Given the late time you are flying, CLEAR really wouldn't be any benefit but if the only two choices are CLEAR and a worthless Expert line in the morning, I will be back to CLEAR very quickly. I have had mixed experiences in the Expert line. TSA confirmed to people in this line that the only qualification to go in this line is that there are no SMALL children with the party. Basically, no strollers, toddlers, etc... This does not stop the once a decade vacationers that we see a lot of down here. They say a picture is worth a thousand wods.. This one is worth a couple of hundred dollars a year... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/membe...urity-line.jpg |
Confirmed in email to me - CLEAR is back under new ownership
Just received an email from the new Clear that they are back. Of course the question is, do they start the remaining membership now or when the first lane is open, and can you hold of restart until they come to your local airport, or request it to start.
Dates for DEN and MCO: Denver October 31st Orlando in November ___________ Dear grlittle, CLEAR is back! As new owners we will honor your remaining membership term. For example, if you had 6 months left as of June 2009, you will get 6 months for free. Click Here to set up a new login and password - it’s easy. Once reactivated, your existing CLEARcard will work. If you need to order a replacement card go to Your Account after you reactivate. The CLEARlanes open in Denver October 31st, Orlando in November, and additional airports will be announced in the coming months. We look forward to seeing you back in the CLEARlane. With Clear, will they have their own line for WTMD/XRAY, or will the Clear users merge into the general line for WTMD/XRAY after using the kiosk?
|
I just got the same email. If it doesn't begin till Oct 31st and all I get is my remaining time, then why would I reactivate it now and not wait till Oct 30th or after. What am I missing?
|
According to the Clear website, the restart begins when they open at your home airport.

Or when you first use it, so I'll sign back up now I guess. |
I am happy to give the government information they already have about me, but I am not going to give that information to a private company run by people who originated in the nude-o-scope industry-- we already know what value they place on privacy.
Michael Chertoff hawked the RapeScan backscatter machines as a consultant (though during his numerous appearances on television and radio after the pantybomber incient he never disclosed his relationship with that company. It wasn't until Campbell Brown brought it up, after he had done like 24 interviews without mentioning it, that it came to light). Craig Coy is the former COO of L3 Communications, maker of the PerpVision MMW. Robert LaPenta is the most qualified person to run clear based on his experience with L-1 Identity Solutions, but he too came from L3 Communications (though they were only in the first stages of the MMW as I recall when he left). If it were just him, I'd consider Alclear if I were based in MCO, DEN or IAD. But make no mistake, they are all leaches of government funds via private industry, looking to make a buck off US tapayers by hawking any crap our government is willing to buy with our money even if it is unnecessary or faulty. |

I overslept once and made it from bed to gate in about 20 minutes, including a 15 minute drive, and nade the flight.
Without clear may have just stayed in bed. I like knowing security will not be an issue. |
