But why would I expect anything less from you?

MCO is an abomination. But I suggest that there is no better example to show that creating an elite, paying to "make it better", is not the first way to deal with the problem.

At a station where it's probably > 95% non-business traffic, what an excellent place to make it work, and showcase it.

Not least because there are some very large and well-known entertainment enterprises in the area that must be impacted by this. There must be many people who decide to go elsewhere for their vacations because of this. Those companies, who do have some experience with queuing theory, need to be invited into the mix.

I'll be calling the lady at MCO back this afternoon, so I will relay my comments, and the comments of other FFers...

Profit and Failure. Failure and Profit.

The new company, to be renamed Clear, will be based in New York. Mr. LaPenta and Michael Chertoff, a former secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, will sit on its board.
With Skeletor on the board of the new company . . . sounds like a winner!

On the one hand, Mr. Chertoff adds tremendous credibility in at least two directions, which is sure to accrue to New Clear's bottom line.

On the other hand, he's moving over to profit from his failure (TSA). (And old Clear's.)

Nice work if you can create it.

Consider the source.

Gloating that consumers got swindled and some lost an appreciable amount? Come on :td:

Oh wait, I get it now, they deserved it because they wanted a ticket to the front of the line or because they believed that they would be given a product they paid for. "Chumps." :o

It's kind of genius if you ponder it, he gets appointed to create this mess and now he gets to have people pay him so they don't have to bother with it.

You should read the separate thread on "Recovering Prepaid Membership fees from CLEAR" -- many people got their pro-rated money back from the credit card company if they tried.

If so, how pointless. A pax could just attain elite status with an airline and use the priority lines. I hope it gives you more, though..

Although there has been a huge amount of discussion about CLEAR's value in this and previous threads, I'll just point out that even if your home airport does have an elite line, at elite heavy airports like UA at SFO, the wait in the elite line at rush hour can be 20-30 minutes at times, whereas a CLEAR holder was through in 60 seconds, always. I'm not commenting on the "morality" or "social appropriateness" of being able to jump the line; that's a legitimate but different conversation. I'm only pointing out that the investment of less than $200/yr was well worth it for some of us who travel every week at rush hour.

ugh...I see that every week. When I flew AA on Monday mornings every week (the other side of the airport) the line would extend so far that they shut off the moving walkways so that the line could use that area.

What's really funny is that on the AA side, the Experienced Traveler lane is rarely heeded, but on the Delta side, it is hidden a bit so you have to know it is there. Thankfully tourists will just stand in the long line and not look around leaving a shorter line for me.

Can't speak for anyone else, but this chump missed clear and would love to see it come back. I want to be a born-again chump! :D

DEN was a zoo last winter at elite line

ORD was a zoo last week also at Terminal 1 &2 elite lines. Clear was never at ORD, but I hope the new Clear will make this busy place a priority.

What's the world coming to where a guy can't come into a thread for a little gloat without being attacked?

My problem with CLEAR was that they asked for a lot of personal information that a) was private b) had no business being added to a commercially run database c) took valuable space away from From First Class and Elite lines, and d) charged $100 to get move slightly ahead of people at third rate airports like IND.
