It is very easy to change your appointment on GOES website. Data is live. It is best to check at least several times a day when that NEXUS office is open.

Good luck and please come back and let us know your result.

OK. It seemed like though every day that I checked in July was showing unavailable, but there were plenty of slots across the board in June. I just assumed that meant that they weren't taking appointments yet for July.

What location are you checking. I just checked Toronto, and July was available. The four random days I checked had all time slots available.

Very easy. Click the blue "manage interview appointment" button. Select the centre, and it will provide you with a calendar to choose from.

YUL. Every day in Jun is available, no day beyond that is.

That means they are not scheduling any appointments for the month of July yet.

You could drive to Champlain (~1 hour) when you are in YUL. Lots of availability there. It depends on how urgent it is for you and the time you have while in YUL.

As 1KChinito said, check daily, or even more frequently to see if spots open up in May. I was able to get an appointment at the busy YYZ location one week after my conditional approval. I was checking a few times a day.

Sounds right. I did my NEXUS interview at YUL but can't remember how far in advance I scheduled it. Might have only been a month or so, as I booked my flight to YUL about a month in advance of when I interviewed, so I likely booked and then rescheduled. Again, OP, check daily to see if/when they open up for July.

Yes, thanks, that's what I assumed.

Why Does NEXUS C A Take So Much Longer Than G E???

I applied for G E for my daughter. Time from online application to conditional approval was only 10 calendar days.

Got her in for interview 5 days after c a. Got her G E card in mail 5 days after interview. So only 20 days total for everything.

I also want to get my daughter NEXUS because my wife and I have it, and it's FREE until 18.

The GOES system would not let me apply for NEXUS for her until final approval of G E was complete.

Well, it's going on 32 calendar days and NEXUS status still says "pending".

Why is G E so dang fast while NEXUS is slow-slow-slow?

From what I understand USA and Canada authorities have full access to each others citizens records.

If someone is approved quickly for G E, why not the same for NEXUS?

Nexus approval is a business process involving two completely separate government bureaucracies. It is relatively amazing the business process works at all.

It's too bad you got Global Entry first, you just wasted your time. NEXUS includes Global Entry privileges.

GE only requires approval from the US authorities. NEXUS requires approval from both US and Canadian authorities. The US standard for approval is the same for GE and NEXUS (as GE comes included with NEXUS). Since GE is approved so fast, it is reasonable to assume that it is the Canadian authorities holding up the process.

Recently I renewed my Canadian passport. I updated the passport information on GOES and I figured I would be good to go for Global Entry for entering the US. But based on other posts on this thread I called the Nexus enrolment centre in Montreal to ask if they still need a copy of my passport for Canadian customs. The Nexus office employee told me, to my surprise, that it is actually the other way around. They need to scan my passport so that I can continue to use the GE kiosks without problems, but CBSA does not need a passport copy because the Nexus kiosks work with Nexus card only. Has anyone else been told something like this?

For NEXUS, updates (new home address or employer) or new immigration docs (passports, permanent resident cards, etc), both CBSA and CBP officers advise that this needs to be done in person in an NEXUS office. I have attempted to update addresses and other information on the GOES web site before only to find that this update was not indicated on the computer screen at the entry officer's booth on my next entry. I had to go in to the NEXUS office and present the update in person before the border officer at entry saw it on their screen as I entered.

As for customs, they just go by what is on the immigration information of the document being used to enter (recorded in the NEXUS system).
How does GE work?

I recently renewed my NEXUS. It took 7 weeks to received the conditional approval notice with a request to schedule the interview. I presume you know the way to get a sooner interview by checking the appointment system on a daily basis to obtain a sooner appointment from someone else who has cancelled or rescheduled their appointment?

It is easy to see why NEXUS applications take longer to process as two different governments review the NEXUS application while only one government is reviewing a GE application.

Secondary Screening

Hey there. Wife and I are both Nexus holders and we recently did some shopping in the states and crossed via the Nexus lane in Niagara. We had our receipts with the exception of one which we forgot in the trunk and when we mentioned that to the border guard he gave us a yellow card and had us pull into secondary. Couple of other guards came out and searched our cars and looked at our receipts and once they searched the car we were told we could go. We didn't have to pay anything, nothing was seized nor were we given any paperwork or anything. In fact, we didn't even have to go inside of the building. I'm just wondering now what this means? Is this recorded as an infraction or did we get lucky with no record against me and should just be more prepared next time?
