Global Entry machines at YEG
I don't think this has been mentioned in this thread yet, but there are now GE machines in YEG. I was not 100% sure that they were operational and by the time I finished using the NEXUS machine, a lady came over to the area containing the machines and said the GE machines were working. Oh well, I'll get to test it out them out in a couple of weeks.
I see that the Global Entry website now lists Edmonton as well. ^ http://www.globalentry.gov/locations.html |

8:15 - drive is 0:45-1:15 and 1:15 is safer as the Massey tunnel is single lane in your direction at that time. Drive to the Pacific/truck crossing, park at Canada Customs and walk across. The Nexus office is adjacent to the main CBP building (no more than 2-3 mins walk from the Canadian parking lot but be sure to clear CBP entry first).
I think you'll need a GE machine to use GE to enter the U.S., which is limited to airports. No way to verify you otherwise. Q: Is there anything I have to do prior to using the Global Entry card in the NEXUS/SENTRI lanes? A: Global Entry members, who wish to drive their vehicle in the SENTRI lanes, must register their vehicle with CBP and schedule an appointment at a SENTRI enrollment center to have a 7-point vehicle inspection conducted. For more information on SENTRI and the location of SENTRI enrollment centers, please go to http://www.sentri.gov. There are no additional requirements for a member to use the NEXUS lanes coming into the U.S. However, Global Entry cards will not be valid for entry into Canada via the NEXUS lanes and kiosks |
Is a walk-up interview possible while "pending review"?
A number of posters state they got walk-up Nexus interviews without an appointment.
However, they may have not have had a "pending review" status. I am a "Trusted Traveler" who wants to add Nexus to my Global Entry account, but I am still pending review for Nexus. I will be in YUL (Montreal), YVR (Vancouver), as well as near the downtown Vancouver Nexus office between July 14 - 19. Has anyone succeeded in getting a walk-up interview while pending review? |

Per my understanding, for the interview you need to bring (print out) the conditional approval letter in your profile (I was asked for it specifically ...), so I am pretty sure that unless you are "conditionally approved" you cannot go for an interview. |
FYI,
As a follow up to my own question about an application being denied for making a mistake.. I phoned the enrollment center and was told that it probably wouldn't be a problem. We'll probably still get the conditional approval, and then they can correct the middle name during the interview. |

Not using NEXUS while waiting for a your new card post-interview, is different then using an expired card while having a pending renewal application.
Can anyone confirm that expired cards with pending renewals are ok to use? |
Can one reschedule an appointment once it's been scheduled on GOES for Nexus?
I don't want to try and be blocked from changing the appointment and then if an earlier one becomes available I wouldn't have the option to reschedule. I am sure you can always cancel by calling in but I'd rather not wait for an agent on the phone in which case the earlier appointment will no longer show. |

Only limit is you have to call if you need to cancel within 24 hours. Otherwise, keep looking. I could not find anything until Sept then a few days ago a mid July opened up. |

How does it work for scheduling an appointment with two people? I imagine if my wife and I get conditional approvals right now, we're likely to see two openings way off at a later date. If I keep searching for cancellations though, it's probably not likely that I'll find two on the same date, let alone consecutively. Right?
How do you guys who are obviously booking for two people or the whole family manage? I'd hate to have to make two trips out to YYZ, or worse Niagara Falls. |

How do you guys who are obviously booking for two people or the whole family manage? I'd hate to have to make two trips out to YYZ, or worse Niagara Falls. 1. YYZ consecutive appts: as you say, you will have to book far off at a later date (probably Oct.) 2. Niagara/Buffalo consecutive appts: a bit of a hike, but you get it done together in a reasonable timeframe (1-2 months). 3. Act independently. You both book YYZ as in #1 (because you have to book something) and then check the website a few times a day for near-term cancellations. If it's anything like YUL, odds are you will be able to find 2 (single) cancellations within a few weeks. This method is probably the fastest, but does result in 2 separate trips to Pearson. We chose #3. Lastly, I should point out it is not impossible to find two adjacent cancellations, because people do book together (as in #1) and thus could cancel together, but you might drive yourself crazy checking the website 10x per day trying to snag that unlikely event. |
