I've only flown through ORD once but I was not asked to show mine. Still, seems wise to have one.

I've flown into JFK, EWR, ORD, LAX and various Canadian ports on Global Entry or NEXUS. I was never asked to produce a sticker. The receipt from the kiosk was always sufficient. YMMV.

Reports on this forum (and elsewhere) suggest that sometimes at ORD thet insist sticker is needed before they will let you even access the kiosk, not when leaving customs. You can't get a receipt until you finish at the kiosk.

And this has never been the case for Nexus - in fact, if they really wanted to check for access to the Nexus kiosks, they'd just ask you to show your Nexus card. In fact, sometimes at YYZ, US pre-clearance does ask to see your Nexus card when you hand in your customs card/receipts.

Didn't seem like the most helpful/friendly.

Not sure why LAX would be different, though I've always been told there is no appointment necessary. Are you sure they weren't confused that you wanted an interview? You can only make an appointment though GOES (as far as I know), and that option only becomes available when you need one (i.e. when you have been conditionally approved, and need an interview to finalize the process).

If you log into your GOES account, you can tell whether you can use GE right away. It will either say something similar to, "you are now able to use GE" or "You will be eligible to use GE once you go to a Nexus or GE office to have all 10 fingerprints scanned." Generally, if you had all fingerprints scanned when you got Nexus, you should see the first message, and if you got one/no fingerprints scanned, you'll get the second.

I'd just show up at the office - might be a good idea to print up that GOES page for reference or to show them if needed.

Here is my first GE experience.

Coming from SAL into IAH I was handed a US customs blue form on my CO flight and filled out as per usual when I do pre clearance into the USA from Canada. I arrived and walked (a long way) to the customs hall and followed the signs for Global Entry. I got to the kiosk and an agent standing there asks to see my Nexus card (I think because he saw my Canadian passport and Nexus card in hand) and then asked me if my account was configured to read my passport or to read my fingerprints, to which I replied that I had no clue. He scanned my passport for me at the kiosk but that didn't work so he asked me to scan my fingerprints at the kiosk by putting my four right digits tightly together and pressing down hard on the illuminated fingerprint scan glass. After that I got a Global Entry ticket along with a receipt and proceeded down to the baggage hall and to the exit with the Global Entry lane where I was asked for the receipt and presented my customs form as well. The agent then asked why I filled out the blue customs form to which I replied that I was told to (which was true). He then said that since I am GE that I did not have to fill out the blue customs form and that i just needed to fill in the customs info online. I just said "ok" and he let me go on my merry way.

So what the heck was he referring to by filling this info ahead of time online? Was he referring to the GOES site? The only time I filled in any information was during online check in on the CO website.

Oh, and I never got a sticker and was never asked for the sticker at all at IAH. This was even after the officer at the GE kiosk asked to see my Nexus card. I was never turned away for not having a sticker. Also, where could I have asked for a sticker at IAH.

Gotta love how everything is as clear as mud. Trial by error it is!

You fill in the customs form when you are at the GE kiosk. Therefore you do not need the blue form. When you swipe your passport and completed your fingerprint, there's a series of questions that you need to answer on screen before the system prints out the declaration card. You probably missed that part as the agent probably completed that for you.

Never have I had to show the sticker before the kiosk at ord. Always upon exiting the customs hall.

It's hit or miss. Maybe it depends on the individual agent...

I've finally applied! Hopefully evening interview times (7pm or later), or weekends are offered. I work for a co. with a US presense and in three years I've been sent there three times. Lastest trip is this weekend (flying EwwEhh feeder to NH via IAD), but maybe for next time I can use Nexus.

I trust you simply breeze through a Nexus lane, scan iris, answer a few questions on-screen, and it spits out a printout? But you still must wait in the final line downstairs at YYZ and exit out the same door?

Then I've had the same agent 25 times. And she's had gender modification surgery :D

Rant #1. After taking a half hour to get out of the customs hall at T1 YYZ tonight (three lines of hundreds of people snaking towards the exit) waiting to clear those two agents who man the only exit, it may be time for a NEXUS lane to get out just as we have them now to get through security! Had a similar situation at LAX and IAD upon arrival several times but there is a separate line for GLOBAL ENTRY & CREW to exit their customs halls.

Rant #2. I consider myself of average height for a male (5'10") so why is it the NEXUS kiosks have the eye viewer so low that one must bend down to properly align both eyes?

Because you can bend down, but most shorter people have not learned to levitate properly? Just a guess.

No, I was quite aware of the process and answered the same questions on the GE kiosk screen. It did not occur to me that the kiosk questions rendered the blue form moot, similar to how upon entering Canada, one needs to fill out the Canadian customs form even if you are a Nexus member. I guess the only difference is that the GE kiosk already knew which flight I was on and had already pre-populated that information for me.

Thanks for the tip... I will no longer bother with the blue form when doing GE!

This GE sticker mystery is annoying me. Is there literature that explicitly spells out what we need as a Nexus member when using GE? I have not found any. I do not call it being mentioned on the GE postcard invite.
