First time using 2.0 at IAD. Fine at kiosk, got slip … and then waited 10m in line while CBP agent checked each passport.
is this a one off? Because it’s certainly not as fast as scanning the passport at the kiosk.
btw, on separate issue there’s a small sign at front of line listing the various things you’re supposed to declare (plants, meats, etc.; currency; being on farm; etc )

Was the booth with the officer inspecting passports dedicated for GE passengers, or was it shared with other lines?

Was dedicated GE line, with separate lines for Crew and Mobile Passport as well - each had its own queue. (And everyone in line that I saw had the receipt with them).
Maybe it was an audit or something with the machines was off today . . . good to know it's not typical. Last time I did it (nearly 3 years ago) it was 1.0, with the slip, a handoff and move along.

I can't comment on IAD specifically as I've never entered on an international flight there, but this is not a representative experience of GE 2.0. At all other instances, you either walk past the primary inspection booths if the receipt is collected at the exit to the customs hall, or you get the receipt collected right after the kiosks, which it sounds like what happens at IAD, but without much of a wait at all.

Yep, I had that last week at JFK. Surprised the hell out of me. No scanning of passport, no human wanted to see it or ask me anything.
I walked up to a booth, stuck my head in the guidelines, it asked zero questions about origin or stay and printed me a receipt.
Border guy took the receipt without looking at it or my passport and that, as they say, was that.
It was already a breeze and now it's hilariously swift.

At JFK T1 on Friday morning, the GE machines weren't printing receipts at all, so we had photos taken and then had to wait in a long line for a manual CBP inspection. Total mess. Welcome to America.

Twice got "Too many Entries" message
So only traveled twice since Covid. Landed both times at American terminal 8 at JFK. Both times did the photo thing at the Global Entry kiosk and both times got the error that message "Too many entries," Happen to anyone else? Possible to ignore the photo request and just put in the passport? Both times I just got in the Global Entry line, explained the machine tweaked, showed them my physical Global Entry card and very nice officers got me right though but I am wondering if for some reason Global Entry is now useless for me because it will always show an error. I double-checked my details at a Global Entry office, and three times now called the Global Entry national number and endured the long wait and they keep telling me my file looks good and there are no problems. I must look like other people since twice now the facial recognition machine said too many entries.
Does anyone else have to deal with this? Not sure how to get a new photo or do whatever is needed so the system recognizes me. Considering using the MoblePassport App as a backup.
Just as a bit of advice--always make sure you have your physical card with you in case
So update--got through to someone at Global Entry--apparently photo is based upon your original photo from your last interview. Since I got my extensions online and was not required to re-interview, I had an old photo in their system. Their advice was to go to an enrollment center, and have a new picture taken, so will give that a try! The specialist thought an appointment was not needed but did suggest calling the nearest enrollment center to make sure I walked in at a convenient time and date.

My two cents...I am not a frequent flyer like many here. I and my family arrived through EWR last week. It was our first time using Global Entry so we weren't sure what to expect. We deboarded and saw a bunch of Submit MPC Now signs, but I didn't do so. We collected bags and rechecked them onto our connection. We went through GE kiosks which used facial recognition. No passport scan. No fingerprints. We got our receipts and walked to our connection. I didn't see anyone or anywhere that asked about customs declarations. So we were a little confused by the process. We didn't know if GE let us bypass a customs line or if there was some kind of laxity in the normal process.

If you had a declaration to make you would probably want to search someone out . . . though they likely would find you first.
