I'm up for renewal of my Nexus card. I'm no longer live in a state near the Canada border, so Nexus is not going to give me the same benefit as I originally intended to get out of it. In the TTP website, it gives option to renew as GE or Nexus as shown below.
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ff8001c612.png Based on what I've read in this thread, there's a good chance that I can get renewed without an interview, but I'm hoping to avoid a scenario where I will be stuck having to drive to another state to do an interview. Should I still renew as Nexus or switch to Global Entry? Is there any downsides to switching with GE, like does the Nexus card become deactivated immediately until GE is approved? |

Second Nexus Renewal (first time was renewed no interview)
Applied for renewal: 5/9/2022 Conditional Approval: 5/10/2022 Approved (no interview required): 11/30/2022: based on the posts, they might have just said .... it and decided to just approve a bunch of folks to clear the backlog. |
Second NEXUS renewal:
Applied: 4/9/2022 Approved: 11/30/2022 I was fully expecting to get an interview requirement as I added some pretty “sketchy” (from a US foreign policy perspective) countries to my travel history in this most recent application, but was fully approved without. Never went to conditional approval status at all. |
First NEXUS renewal for expiration at end of 2021.
Applied for renewal: Early 2021 Conditionally approved: 7/20/2021 Approved: 11/20/2022 My new expiration date is 5 years since the original expiration date, no extra year, so 2021 to 2026. |

Insane. 30 months is the longest I've heard for waiting for conditional approval for Nexus. This program really needs a revamp in how they go through the approval process.

Conditional Approval doesn't take 30 months. The final approval after getting CA has been issue. (All Nexus centers were closed)

I mentioned in another thread that I know someone who just hit conditionally approved after 18 months of waiting, so those notices on the ttp website aren't lying when they say it can take that long
A number of applications appeared to have fell into a black hole and got processed after 6 months while others during same timeframe got processed in days. |
Re; Nexus Renewal and Processing Timelines
So, adding my experience to the collective board...
NEXUS Card Expiring: June 2023 Applied for Renewal: July 2022 EDIT: Approved (no interview): Dec 26 2022 "Activate Membership Card" appeared: Jan 5 2023 Card Arrived: TBD As of Dec 2022 (~6 months after renewal submitted), still stuck in "Pending Review" - I recently misplaced my NEXUS card during travel and can't seem to replace it while it's pending renewal. Hope the approval comes through soon. |
Good news at last
Been monitoring this thread since I submitted my renewal on May 3rd 2022 (1 day after I became eligible). Like many others, my application has been pending review since then but today it went to APPROVED!!! :)
Like others, the letter has the address of the original office I interviewed at (YYZ) Below are some speculations/personal observations: 1. I think the renewals are processed faster and faster 2. While I am not one of the lucky ones that got approved, several factors that MAY have contributed to a longer review period/process:

Apologies if this was posted earlier, but I went back to early Nov and didn't see it.
Ottawa reopens 2 NEXUS offices in effort to address application backloghttps://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/nexus-offices-reopening-applications-two-step-process-interviews-1.6675078I notice also that the Alexandria Bay southbound Nexus lane was open earlier in the day, I don't recall seeing that before (though I don't check regularly). [and further, my renewal application is now marked as Approved. I applied in Apr or May I think (not at E-364 but maybe E-300) and expiry is in early 2028.] |
Finally got an update today with a status change. May 5, 2022 I submitted my renewal (2nd renewal since becoming a member). It was sitting in US review not moving since then but today I finally got approved.

How do you know it was sitting in 'US review' and not Canadian review?
