Not sure how this is relevant to the quoted posts. Are you suggesting that CBP staff are not working on Nexus renewals? Or that renewal decisions must not be made by individual enrollment centers because the Canadian ones don't have CBP staff on site?

The fact that an enrollment center is closed doesn't tell us much about what its staff is doing all day. Presumably they're still processing renewal applications, just not interviewing.

No evidence at all enrollment centres making renewal decisions but various clues to suggest they don't such as:
  • Official CBSA policy document indicate enrollment centres don't process applications; only the interviews.
  • Was at YUL several times this year. Office has always been closed as in lights off during normal business hours.
  • Press reporting CBP not staffing enrollment centres in Canada.

Does Informed Delivery work off of actual scanned envelope in the mail system or when a label is created? If it's the former, talk to your serving post office.

My observation is it works off actual scanned envelope, as evidenced by in some cases you can see the cuts, tears, folds, scratches etc on the mail piece.
There's a rolling seven-day window (from the web interface) in which you can check "I didn't receive this piece of mail" after seven days no online options to notify USPS via Informed Delivery, that I can see.

IME informed delivery shows up for non-trackable (eg no tracking barcode) mail the night prior to delivery. The card is non-trackable mail so the I would reach out to local post office.

Thanks everyone. The envelope showed up again on informed delivery about 5 days later and was delivered the next day, so it must have gotten misrouted the first time around.

I renewed my Nexus in June 2021 and received a conditional approval. I've been waiting for interview slots to become available, relying on the 2-year validity extension in the meantime.

Today, I just received a notice that my renewal application is now fully approved, and valid until June 2026. No more interview needed.

Interesting. Hopefully they are clearing out some of the back logs this way. My wife was "under review" since January and got full approval last week. Waiting for the card to arrive. My oldest child has been conditionally approved since January. Will keep an eye out for a change in status.

GE/PreCheck after expiry

My NEXUS renewal application status is “Conditionally Approved” and my NEXUS will expire later this month. I have an appointment for the renewal scheduled next April.
I will have an international air trips in December after my NEXUS expires.
I just want to double check that I can still use GE and PreCheck when I fly back to the US.
Is that correct?

Yes, since you applied before your existing NEXUS expired, you're good for up to 2 years (or that was the last update I got anyway) post your expiry date.

I entered the US and Canada a number of times between my expiry date and renewal interview on an expired Global Entry / Nexus and it was not remarked on by anyone except the Nexus security line in Toronto, who asked me to confirm I had renewed already.

Well, this is wild.

I applied for renewal in summer 2021 a year before expiration, and I submitted the renewal as a US LPR (citizenship application pending at the time) and I got a conditional approval last June (2022).

Now today I got an email with a status update and logged in to see see that my application has been approved. New expiration date is summer 2027.

While this is an unexpected development, I have no idea if the Canadians have my updated US citizenship info (I assumed they do if they've suddenly approved me, unless I found some weird loophole where they approved me while they still think I'm on a green card), as the TTP dashboard still shows my same old info, even my old DL from my previous state of residence and I'm certain I put in my CO DL info during the renewal application.

This also means that my trip to Vancouver (to go to Blaine for an interview) is absolutely moot at this point.

I also hope I can receive my new card before I need to travel on Dec. 1. I've been seeing people here saying their card deliveries have been delayed.

I very suddenly got approval today, too (posted about it on the NEXUS renewal thread).

Spouse applied for second Nexus renewal 3/2022 (approx 11 months prior to expiration), was approved and new Nexus card received within 4 weeks of renewal application.

I applied for second Nexus renewal 2/2022 (approx 11 months prior to expiration), was approved (no interview required) 11/2022 (no card quite yet).

Second round of Nexus renewal. Applied before expiration on March '22. Approved today, no interview for the second time.

Children with expired Nexus, applied January '22, still nothing.

BMGRAHAM Nov 16, 2022 6:55 am

I applied to renew NEXUS in March 22, I just got approval without interview yesterday. This is the second time this has happened. The first time I originally had Global Entry but upgraded to NEXUS and saved $50. Actually this time it cost me $50 more since Amex would have paid the $100 for Global Entry but they won't pay the $50 for NEXUS.

Chat with them and ask.. I've heard anecdotally they may cover it as your Trusted Traveler credit but only if requested.

Not convinced. rustykettel's Oct. 31 post suggests that enrollment centers are involved in Nexus renewal decisions. Lights on/off at an enrollment center -- so what? This kind of work can be done remotely, including by CBP officers in the States. Let's post whatever potentially illuminating data we have.
