Could just be the default address for certain renewals of initial applicants from there, or perhaps the CBP officers are still working there *inside the Nexus office * but the current issue is protections and authorities when members of the public are present.

There's been at least one person reporting that their letter had the address of the long-closed Boeing Field office where they first interviewed, so it seems far more likely that the system generates the letters based on your enrollment location or last interview location (which for many of us is the same - I've renewed twice so far but neither required a re-interview) than that renewal processing is happening in those specific locations.

Just checked my renewal letter, also the same case -- came from an office that I originally got my Nexus from, but no longer exists.

Interesting data point I thought I'd share.. My son's NEXUS expired December 2021. I renewed beforehand, but with the Canadian locations being closed he was given an 18 month grace period, or somewhere along those lines. I had scheduled an interview in NY some time in April 2023 for him, but decided we would used NEXUS when traveling over the holiday. Two days ago I get an email that his application status has changed. Logged in to his account and sure enough he's been fully approved. I guess when we cleared customers and the CBP officer pointed his little 0.5mp webcam at him they snapped a new photo and that was all that was needed to get a 7 year old approved again?

Anyway, thought that was interesting. Kind of tempted to renew my younger son and try to fly again and see if I can get his renewed that easily, lol.

it wasn’t the photo.

As noted upthread, our 7yo’s Mexus expired on Feb ‘21, and we renewed, waiting a while for approval, then got the pre-approval notification in maybe June ‘21 or so? But with COVID and offices closed, we never booked. Last week, she got a notification of a status change, and all of a sudden, approval. I don’t recall exactly when she got her photo done originally, but it was probably when she was somewhere around 3-6 months.

have not received the new card yet. I do suspect they are re-evaluating pre-approved folks and fully approving more now that the offices have remained closed and with the backlog. I also recently got fully approved from my renewal - it’s the first time I have not required an interview for renewal, and I have had it since very close to the time Nexus started.

Got the option to "Activate Membership Card" today, Jan 5 2023. Waiting on the card post-approval. I assume they're mailed First Class International from DC?

Interesting. I still don't have the activate card option, I was approved on 29 Dec 2022. I'll keep waiting patiently for the card to arrive in the mail.

We renewed our 3 older kid's cards in June and they were all conditionally approved pending interview. We did our 2 adult cards at the same time and got fully approved (no interview). We applied for a new card for our 3yr old and she was also conditionally approved pending interview.

In Aug I finally got 4 interview slots booked for Jan 21 2023 in Blaine. Requiring an overnight and ferry trip (we live on Vancouver Island). All of a sudden a week ago one of our boys status flipped to fully approved. And tonight another one flipped. I'm guessing our 3rd approval will flip before we even get to Blaine. At least we will have to go for our youngest (brand new card) so the non-refundable bookings are still going to be used.

Would be great to get the pictures updated for our (now fully approved) kids while we are there. I'll have to ask.

No sign of new cards for the boys yet.

Expiration April 2023
Renewed Oct 13, 2022
Approved Jan 7, 2023 (no interview)

Thought maybe I'd have to interview since I moved to another state and got a new job since initial interview and had to update all that in the renewal since I never did in Blaine (and border guard hassled me about it once although haven't crossed border since precovid) but looks like they're rubber stamping a lot of these things.

At some point, eventually, I'd also like to get my picture updated. It is already from more than 10 years ago, and with my new recent renewal approval, it'll be using a 15-year-old picture by the time it expires.

Today, the "activate membership card" option appeared in the portal.

Nexus expiration: March 2023.

Renewal submitted: 7 October 2022.

Approval: 29 December 2022.

she is 7. My second daughter (5) just changed to conditional approval today and wants me to schedule an interview. I scheduled on but hope it can just go straight to approval like my other.

Just another data point of the same. Teen in my house was pre-approved for a renewal back in summer, never scheduled the interview as the expired card was supposed to be good for 2 or 3 years (I kept hearing conflicting) but right before the holidays I got the approval message and the card just showed up the other day.

At the same time I have a parent with an expired Nexus (needed to renew at the beginning of Covid and completely forgot), figured we'd try to apply for a new card back in spring, but figured it would take a long while since was completely expired and interview likely required. After a few months of waiting went straight from pending to final approval and a card sent out with the last valid photo. I guess they aren't too worried about previous card holders in their 70s & 80s but still.

Looks like they are finding ways to mitigate the backlog where possible!

PatrickTM Jan 18, 2023 9:42 am

By the slowing of posts, it seems like the backlog is clearing.
