Nexus by definition includes GE privileges. Your NEXUS card will activate a GE machine in Canada (only place this has ever been possible) if machine hasn't been updated to newer facial recognition.

Note, they have had issues with the new machines not working. This has nothing to do with GE vs NEXUS. They just don't work. Last month at YYZ T1 only 1 machine was working.

You do not want an application for GE to be approved if have NEXUS. Your NEXUS will be canceled. Do NOT apply for GE. Do not goto an interview for GE.

I believe the agent was just making things up that were talking to. (Not lying, but genuinely thought that is issue).

Didn't get any notification when I did the renewal that an interview was still outstanding, but he said I can do it on arrival in the US (or pre-clearance) any time from that date.

Did your NEXUS renewal require an interview or was it a final approval without the need for an interview? If an interview was required, you must have interviews with both the Canadian CBSA and the US CBP.

Please refer to information in the following thread:

Canadian and US NEXUS Enrollment Centers Have Reopened [Updated]

This new process has two steps:
  • The process begins with the Canadian portion of the NEXUS interview conducted by CBSA officers at the Canadian airport enrollment centers. Applicants must book an appointment online for this step.
  • The U.S. portion of the NEXUS interview will be conducted by CBP officers in the preclearance area of a Canadian airport before the applicant departs for the United States. Applicants will not need to schedule appointments for the U.S. interview but are encouraged to build in time to their travel plans to allow for this interview to take place before their departure. The CBP interview can occur only after the CBSA portion of the interview has been completed and the information has been shared with CBP.

Nope, no interview required. I suspect the agent was guessing, hence asking here. My TTP profile on the website just shows NEXUS. No GE there. And no indication of anything missing or pending on my NEXUS membership (even today, now the 14th that the agent mentioned). NEXUS and ABTC both show "approved".
I figured it was more likely my photo from ten years ago when I got my first NEXUS card doesn't match me now (have a beard I didn't have then; got older; lost weight). I guess I'll ask the next agent next time I go through and it throws an error / doesn't recognise me.

I attended my "split" renewal interview yesterday at the airport in YYC with CBSA. Before I got home I had an email from the TTP site indicating a status update, which was approval with a new expiry date of 2029. Not going to ask why I didn't need to do the CBP part... I'm happy.

Finally! Conditional Approval

Anyone know what the record for longest renewal time is?
Today my 18 yr old son's renewal application has been "Pending Review" for 445 days and counting.
This is his first renewal and he applied late (2 weeks after his card expired) so he's currently without benefits.
I called the CBSA 800 number and they said as long as it says "Pending Review" the application is in process and there's nothing to be done. :-(

My son finally got conditional approval today.
This is his first renewal but he let his card expire before applying to renew which may explain why it took so long.
Total days from renewal application to conditional approval: 478.
He snagged one of the new a US/CAN "split" interview appointments at YVR in early May.

I'm dense - didn't realize it was the same poster. Gives me hope because we're in the same ballpark that mine might happen soon then...feel free to delete if you think appropriate

10 days later the new card was in my mailbox today...

Looks like I was very wrong on this. Over three months later and still pending.

Feb 2022 renewal just got conditional approval today. 16-17 months

Data point: NEXUS expired, but was renewed online and awaiting approval and a decision on needing an interview or not. Per NEXUS rules, a pending application retains the membership privilege while the application is under review, but it seems that Pre-check stopped working shortly after expiration.

Shouldn't Precheck continue to work since the Nexus privileges are being continued?

This is only true if you renewed prior to expiration.
