My wife and I have Global Entry but we only have 2 premium credit cards with GE reimbursement. We recently had a child and we were thinking about doing NEXUS for her since it is free. It looks like the NY border has plenty of appointments, some even next-day. We may just take the 3 hour trip and do a Montreal trip and make it fun. Are we better off doing this instead of getting her GE? Would GE conditional approval be quicker? Is NEXUS conditional approval quicker for infants?
Thank you!
Thank you!

Data point:
Applied for my newborn son on 10/13/2019
Conditional approval on 12/10/2019
Interviewed/Approved in Blaine, WA on 12/21/2019
US citizens. Both my husband and I were already NEXUS members before applying for our son. We originally scheduled the interview for 1/22/2020, but other interview times popped up throughout the week. 12/21 was the most convenient time, but we could have easily scheduled it for as early as 12/11 if we had the flexibility to do so.

No idea, I've only dealt with Nexus. I think the same office processes the paperwork for both but I'm not sure. Some people get lucky and get it right away, there's no reason that with 3 of us holding Nexus, an infant US citizen shouldn't have been approved right away.

Initial Application: September (not posting exact date due to fear of retaliation)
Still waiting. Two weeks ago I called both border patrol agencies.
The Canadian CBP was polite and direct; he definitely sounded frustrated and said something along the lines of "the Americans' story keeps changing. I don't believe a word they're saying." He checked my application and said that the Canadians cleared me in November, which explains why the border agents are so much nicer to me when I cross into Canada.
I called the US CBP and the person could not have been more of a <redacted>. He loudly and tersely told me that due to the shutdown (which was now 13 months ago), they had a huge backlog. I asked him if he could give me a timeline and he tersely said "no." He told me that if I applied in September, I had 4-6 more months of waiting. I think it has less to do with the shutdown and more to do with the fact that most of CBP's funds are going towards <redacted> the Southern border. This is a fee-for-service program, and I wish that <redacted> would treat it that way.

I see my passid when I login, but no conditional approval. Can I use it?
I applied on September 14, 2019 (Canadian Citizen residing in Canada), but no conditional approval yet.
When I login now, I see my Passid, can I use this passid before I get my Nexus?

I finally got my conditional approval just now. I applied June 23, 2019 and conditional approval Jan 27, 2020 so 219 days. I still have no idea why my wife and kids who also applied within a week of my application were conditionally approved in a month.

they did look at my wifes application as they reference information from it.
and then they told me that the current wait time is up to six months if not more.
processing times vary by applicant, but on average processing times are up to 6 months or more for Nexus
so we wait for mid feb the 6 month mark
