If I type BAH to AUH oneway on say 20-Apr-09 in Business into Sabre Fares, there is an option for BA for £123 in fare class J.

Given that BA dont fly this route, nor do any OneWorld member, how do I find out what this fare is referring to? (and subsequently buy it).

Some of the possible routings for this fare are: BAH-DOH on BA (business/J class), then DOH-AUH on EY (business/D class) or QR (economy/W class).

Ok thanks. I previously thought that the Fares were only for direct/codeshare flights, and didnt know it included other flight combinations.

I am trying to search for Sky Team award in Biz from JFK to CDG. It gives me the results fine other then certain dates when it says that the route is too complex. What could i be doing wrong? AF has flights on them days and the route is preety straight forward.

There are currently issues with the [ORT: Awards/SkyTeam] engine displaying AF award availability...

TrayflowInUK Aug 20, 2008 1:53 pm

You're right, I'm not seeing AF on some of the most common routes.

Good thing is you can find AF availability by searching for "O" class using Sabre: ITN (for biz anyway.... for economy, who cares! :D)

Can you? But why am I seeing this for the same flights? Sabre shows 0 seats in O class yet Sky Team award too is showing seats on the same flight.

Sorry if this is the wrong place, I have searched but to no avail. Am using the seat map (Apollo ITN Text) and get this:

Anyone know what the difference is between Assigned and Blocked? I can understand the emergency row being blocked but there is a lot blocked on the diagram above.

Thanks.

For BA, the blocked seats are available only to FFP status members...

KVS What exactly does it do?

I was looking for a tool that shows seat availability on flights so I can estimate my chances of getting bumped on a flight (or getting on as a standby). I did a search for "seat avail" and one of the links was KVS. Before I invest in downloading and learning how to use KVS, I like a brief summary of what it can do. A summary by the moderator as a "sticky" at the begining of this thread would be great. It would cut down silly questions such as mine.

Things I want to know:
Does it work world wide or just certain countries?
Is it suitable for USA only searches.
Would it fit the requirements I mentioned above?

GJS - yow Aug 22, 2008 1:20 pm

Using the SNT: Awards/StarAlliance feature of the KVS Tool, I was startled to see "@" as the availability (instead of '+' or '-'). Checking the KVS FAQ, I quickly found out that "@" = On request/waitlist (applicable to NH/OZ flights only).

However, I was looking at AC flights!

Is there any significance to this?

From KVS Tool FAQ:
# Q: [SNT: Awards/StarAlliance] Method suddenly shows availability as "@" for non-OZ/NH flights.
# A: This happens from time-to-time, and means that the StarNet system or datalink is temporarily unavailable. Please try again a bit later.

It's in the FAQ, mainly the ability to search for fares over specific dates (dotRes) instead of just for the next 12 months.

Regretfully, LAN had disabled this functionality as of a couple of weeks ago...

It seems that no fares show for SK, whether via the Zuji or DotRes methods. Could not get any fares from LON/PAR/FRA/DUB to ARN, for instance.

# Q: I am getting "SABRE: FQ-VERIFY SELLING DAT" error message when using the [Sabre: Fares/ZUJ] Method
# A: If you are getting this message on the last day of the current month (e.g. 31st), then this caused by a time difference bug in the ZUJ engine and you should simply try your request in a few hours.
Otherwise, you should check your current system Date, Time, and Time Zone settings to make sure that they are correct.

oops. I missed this one. Thanks. And I also managed to get them via dotres by changing the pos (from CA to UK).

The timetable function isn't working for me today. I'm getting a message that "the system is temporarily unable to process your request. Please try again (9102)"

Any clues what's going on?

Just a temporary outage, as the error message indicated. All OK now.

I have been working on both fare functionalities for the last 24 hrs. The Sabre ZUJ function works; the Sabre DotRes function does not work. Is there a temporary glitch to the latter function?

PS-If there is a temporary future glitch to the fare functions to the KVS tool, what FlyerTalk functions or other web travel functions from your perspective are an acceptable substitutes for the KVS tool fare functions?

The DotRes CA POS is no longer valid -- you need to select an alternative POS from the list (US/IT/UK).

I will change the POS. You may have mentioned it in the Air Canada forum (which I have not yet looked into) that the DotRes for Canada as the POS is no longer valid; do you plan to add that as an alert to your KVS home page? As of what date has dot res become invalid for Canada as POS?

Once again, Fares/DotRes is fully functional (as are all other Methods), but you have to select a different POS if you previously selected CA (which was not a default option).

Since this is a relatively minor issue, there will be no alert posted, but the POS will be removed on the next version update.

Thanks.

PS-It is of interest that even though Canada as a POS in no longer valid, fares for all airlines (with the origin city being Canadian), whether Canadian, US, or international, are still quoted in Canadian dollars.

I hate to make accusations, but downloading this program coincided with my firefox browser getting taken over by some kind of really strange spyware software..

Anyone else having a problem with your firefox (or any browser) taking you to some site other than the one you typed into the address box, and pretending like it's the site you wanted?

Nope - download cccleaner from IE or another computer, run that.

Also download Spybot and run that, ensure you IMMUNIZE.

Make sure that both IE and FF are shut down, before you start using either of these programs, to ensure effectiveness.

Good luck!

skyteam award availiblity

I'm trying to get a skyteam award from Delta on Korean air and I'm tired of calling all the time.
If I contribute to KVS for the platinum membership, will I be able to see exactly what Delta would see?

IIRC KE awards aren't displahyed on the NW Japan site and thus don't come up using the KVS tool.

bernyx Sep 6, 2008 8:24 am

Is there any other tool anybody knows of to find KE availibility or at least get an idea of it?

FlyerGoldII Sep 7, 2008 5:05 am

1. I would like to determine MPM using the KVS tool - can one determine the Aeroplan MPM between 2 different cities? Are the MPM values between any given city pair the same or different for different frequent flyer programs?

2. When did Sabre:dotres with Canada as POS become nonfunctional for the KVS tool?

FlyerGoldII Sep 7, 2008 5:11 am

It is quite inconvenient to try to find award availability to Switzerland, without having access to such information for LX, using the KVS tool. Do you think a future version of the KVS tool (or the ANA tool) will be able to access such data?

gleff Sep 7, 2008 5:48 am

Here's how to check LX award availability online:
