I really need to get back on KVS. THANKS! I guess I have to go buy a $100 computer just so I can get my KVS back. KVS is the only way to plan long complex trips. No other tool comes close.

The ITA Query builder never works for me. The values given by KVS never produce a result in ITA. Advise please

I installed KVS a day ago and have been playing around with it. So far, so good.
Let me apologize for asking a question that I'm sure has been answered at some point before. However, I can't seem to find a straight forward answer. On an existing UA reservation, how do I find its routing rules using KVS? Thanks so much! |

Welcome to the KVS Tool!
You need to locate a matching Fare using the [Fares] Tab to retrieve its Routing Rules. If you know the Fare Basis Code for your ticket, you can also enter it manually via the [Other Fare] option. |

Hello,
Just subscribed to kvs. I'm doing a search for EWR-FCO on Nov 12th, 2014. 2 passengers. KVS tool doesn't return any availability. But when i search on united.com. I see availability for First class(UA) and business class(TAP). Are my searching options wrong? Thanks! |

I see awards on united that are multi segment via other airports. You might need so search segment by segment since non-stops from EWR to FCO are not available. For example if you search EWR to GVA it does bring back the UA flights, as does the GVA to FCO search on the 13th brings back the LX availability.

Indeed, the OP needs to specify a connecting point, search segment-by-segment, or use the [Awards/AC-StarAlliance] Method.

I thought with Awards/StarAlliance and "Connections" ticked, it would include any connections to my final destination. Thanks again!. |
I Have another question. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post it though. Mods move it if need be.
I'm searching with [Awards/AC-StarAlliance] now. Im looking at another booking. YUL-ZRH , Oct 1st, 2014. Has availability for business. YUL (LH479) - FRA FRA(1186) - ZRH. I searched this same route on United.com and Aeroplan.com. The availability shows on Aeroplan but not on United. Is United hiding availability ? or its phantom? Ultimately i have United points and i would like to use them to book a flight on United.com Thank you! Laura. |

Thank you for the fast reply.
So is there a way for me to still do my searching but without using AC-StarAlliance and stick with ANA. But still have it search for all the connections? Searching with Awards/StarAlliance/JP-ANA-SP1 for YUL-ZRH only comes up with 3 flights. Not all the possible ones like AC-StarAlliance. I guess in simple terms, i want to go from YUL to ZRH, i don't care that there's connections in the middle. As long as its all Business, im fine. Show me all my options on star alliance to get to ZRH no matter how many connections. If that's possible. Thank you

Noticing that at times inventory classes are max'ing out at 4 instead of 9 for UA.
Using the Availability tab, FS method. Example UA 1636 (SFO-ORD), July 11 F4Y4 but UA reports F9Y9 via expert mode. As you go forward into Aug, Sept, .... this becomes more common and until nearly all flights inventory classes are capped at 4 instead of the normal 9. I have traditionally used the Award/Upgrade search (but no more for UA), so is this normal or what??? |

"Depending on the airline, cabin and the GDS system used, the maximum number can be one of the following: 9, 7 or 4." You can also use the [Availability/ETR] Method, which is currently showing F9 Y9 for that flight. |

OK, so Ive been trying multiple options and calling US Air to confirm.....
Its definitely not as easy looking for upgrade availability with one world. With star alliance I could see FS+ or FS- and know if there was availability.... and now many. With one world I can see FS9, but still not have any availability for an upgrade..... What do you use to look into the system and see if there is or is not open upgrades? |
I'm having some issues with US Airways availability...
1. I'm trying to change a BA Avios booking that included a domestic AA flight to a domestic US flight. Using KVS I see FS8, for example, in the award section of the tool' though BA tells me there is no availability on that flight. 2. When digging a little deeper, I see that some US flights that show availability in the awards section, don't even appear as flights in the regular availability section (the first tab). Are these issues related to a POS problem, a misalignment of award fare categories, or something else? |

On 22Apr US1803 RSW-CLT shows FS5 and the connecting flight US1788 CLT-ORD also shows FS5 BA says no F award availability. Is this a case of one flight having availability and the other not? And when I click on the Availability tab, these flights don't even show as being available for revenue. |

Man I am really striking out here..Ive used up my points on Award Nexus, searched Jal Mileage bank, Qatas ect...I even have a paid Sub to KVS tool..and while I am a rookie at using it, I think I am using it correctly because it shows the same stuff as I am able to pull up on the other pages..but its all in one tool which is nice.
Can anyone see ANY F tickets on the 5th-6th leaving from Any airport in the USA? I just cant imagine there being ZERO flights..which is why I was thinking I am doing something wrong with KVS when searching. Im trying to get 2 F tickets ( though would settle for Biz) Leaving late on May 5. Can leave anytime on the 6th as well and from any airport going to Asia. ( HKG or BKK) Cant find any CX F, BA F, or AA F for 2x people. It seems to be lots early may from SFO-HKG. Even tried USA-EU-ASIA and couldnt find ANYTHING Ideally I would like SFO-HKG. I am open to traveling "out of my way" to make it work. AM I just simply using the KVS tool wrong? |

Right up to 24-48 hours before flights, so if you can hold out you may be okay. E.g. checking CX own website now for availability SFO-HKG using Asia miles there are two F seats available tomorrow (Friday) and also every day Sunday thru Friday next week. If you are trying to use other OneWorld airline miles (e.g. AA) then you might not see availability until 24-48 hours before... E.g. Award Nexus shows (via BA and QF) two seats in F available for tomorrow (Friday CX 873 departs in 7 hours!!) but none for Sunday -- wait til Saturday and CX 879 may well show availability as it is F4 for revenue seats (CX 873 is F0 on Sunday, so it won't open up) DAK |
Engines/MSIE Cookies Error [SF1-BSY]
I've checked S* upgrade quota(EVA) via (Awards/Star Alliance) and JP-ANA-Sp1 from KVS with Platinum membership in a PC Windows7 without any problem for 2 weeks. Suddenly, I couldn't anymore and this message appears-->Engines/MSIE Cookies Error [SF1-BSY].
I looked at KVS compatibility page and it seems like the error should come from the crossover MAC or other systems, which is not installed in my laptop. |

DAK Also, 1 F award is open on May 3rd (CX 879) and May 4th (CX 873) for OneWorld partners. There is a good chance this will expand to 2 seats a couple of days before flights. Nothing yet for May 5th/6th but hang in there and keep checking. DAK |

In addition to advice, provided by dkerr, you may wish to use the [Awards/JL-OneWorld] Method, as it shows negative Award Availability more explicitly:

I just purchased the KVS Tool. Pretty amazing stuff.
Any chance you'll be adding an email feature in the near future, where it will send you an alert if Z award seat availability pops up on a planned route? Kirby |
