If you break it down it's not excessive at all. Over the past few days I've been searching for availability from six possible gateways in the US to five in Asia, across all three alliances, in either business or F, with both TATL and TPAC as options. Even checking just once a day (with only occasional segment by segment searches) it's easy to get to over 1,000 enquiries in a week.

You don't have to use the mobile version for every search, as the standard version of KVS has unlimited searches. Just a way of getting around the 400 limit. I understand how you can rack up a very large number with all the combinations you both are searching.

Presumably, those would be Award Availability searches via the main KVS Tool application, which does not have any search limits.

Indeed.

As always, no limits apply to the main KVS Tool application.

I have been without a laptop for the last 6-8 weeks and have been living off a Chromebook. Is there for me to run the full tool and not only the mobile companion?

Without having to do anything to the Chromebook OS?

The main KVS Tool application requires a full-featured machine to run on (i.e. PC/Mac laptop/desktop/netbook).

I got a question re the fare display: http://www.kvstool.com/Screenshots.php#FaresGOL
The only part I'd need KVS for is the basefare listing tool, so I want to be 100% sure it works before I buy a membership.
http://www.kvstool.com/Screenshots.php#FaresGOL doesn't show any screenshots, so could you guys clarify a few things for me, thanks!
1) Does the fare display feature work? Does it show all basefares for a city pair combination? Does it show the basefares for just the given date or for the entire year?
2) Are any other accounts needed to operate the fare display feature (like a Sabre getthere account?)

Unfortunately, with KVS you do not know anything for sure nowadays. It works today and does not work tomorrow. Depends on who blocks KVS from its dubious practices...

It shows the first 40 lowest published Fares for the requested route/carrier.

The Fare validation rules applied are Seasonality, Advance Purchase, Min Stay, Max Stay.

Strange. It works for me every time. I saved over $3,000 on biz class to Hawaii just this week. Granted, I have Diamond membership. It updates every time an airline website changes. Perhaps you should upgrade?

Paying money to KVS is not the answer here. There is a l:(ng history of unhappy KVS customers after the tool suddenly stops working properly followed by some specific data set being no longer available. This is because of KVS's continued unauthorized use of web site data. Plenty of posts in this thread (and the previous one) attest to these facts.

I'm not sure if I'm too stupid for it or not, but when I search for availability by calendar, I get a list of availabilities but no dates associated with those flights. How am I supposed to tell which of the ~14 days it searched for has this availability, short of checking each individual day separately?

You forgot to poll me. I've been flying to Europe and Hawaii the past five years using KVS. I am a very satisfied customer. BTW, I personally authorize every website KVS searches for me. <redacted by moderator> I've been around since the mint days. <redacted by moderator>

<redacted by moderator> KVS is the go to tool for the serious hobbyist. Newbies need to know this. Personally, I was introduced to KVS by Gary Leff himself. I am very thankful for that.

Moderator's note:

A comprehensive list of the Terms of Service and data access policies, where known, of the websites believed to be accessed by the KVS Tool is in the Wiki post.

A web site may authorize you to access its data. That does not give you the right to re-use or re-purpose that data. United, f:or example, has (in part) this to say on the topic:
User [of the site] agrees not to use any robot, spider, other automatic device, or manual process to monitor or copy this website or the content contained therein or for any other unauthorized purpose without United’s prior written permission.

And what an unbiased s:rolleyes:urce of information he is...
