ITA Matrix Search: http://matrix.itasoftware.com

You can sometimes see flights, fares and detailed fare rules that may not be reflected on an airline's website. Please read the thread for some tips and tricks, screen shots, etc.

A related thread, ITA-Matrix-PowerTools - Userscript for Orbitz/DL/UA/AA/BA/CZ/IB/LA/LH/LX/TK, discusses a user script which is maintained by fellow flyertalk members to enhance the already powerful Matrix of ITA Software by providing new features and booking links.

Additional details and tips on the use of ITA's advanced routing code feature can be found in the following long-standing Mileage Run Discussion threads:

ITA fare class negation not working

I tried the following search criteria to query on Aeroflot and Iceland Air flights from NYC to Brussels. I also want to eliminate Aeroflot fare classes starting with "Q":
Code:
JFK :: su,fi+ / f ~su..q; -codeshare
BRU
The results include Aeroflot flights with booking code Q, and the following fare basis code:
Code:
NYC SU X/MOW SU BRU 350.00QLPXOW NUC 350.00 END ROE 1.00 XT 16.70US 2.50AY 164.60YQ 9.20YR 4.50XF JFK4.50
The fare basis code starts with Q, precisely what I negated. Why wasn't this filtered out?

I suspect that the ability to filter by class was stripped out when google dumbed down matrix; f is no longer shown as a valid code in the help section.

As this is a query about the ITA tool itself rather than a MR I'll move this thread over to the Travel Tools forum.

Seems to be hit or miss. I just repeated the search in the OP, and it still fails.

What does that mean? Is it a wildcard?

It seemed to work on the case in the OP, but then I tried this:
Code:
BRU :: f+ / f ~ua..k-
CMH
The first listings included flights both carried and operated by United with booking class K. I also tried other city pairs, and some of them gave:
Code:
The search failed with QPX Warning. Illegal COMMAND-LINE prefix: ~ua..k-
seems flakey.

I am still having the problem in Firefox. In the meantime, I have been using Chrome or Explorer as an alternative.

Try again:
FCO::BA
LGW::BA
get 159 euro in O+O for exact same flights.

If I do slightly different searches I'm getting quotes for coach out and business (D) return.

What's going on?
Sorry for the delayed reply. Thank you for reporting this issue! We were able to reproduce this problem and a fix is in process.

Hooray for feedback and getting results! Thanks for posting this, as we do appreciate it.

One request: if we start to request things that are outside your ability to investigate or conflict with your employer's profit goals, give us a heads up so we don't put you in an awkward position!

Any good enough travel agent should be able to book this for you - they also understand the system and might be able to come up with a better routing/fare than your own searching with ITA. Maybe give some local travel agents a phone call?

In Germany, I use Sky Travel based out of Munich. But Travel Agents are found on nearly every block in German cities.
