However the BAEC section of the BA website appears to be back to "normal." When can we expect BA Award & Upgrade Availability searches to be reinstated? I'm asking for a friend. ;)

Seems to be working OK now, so please ignore!

How to Book E Class Fares Found on Expert Flyer

I am seeing E9 for a non stop flight from PHX to SEA on 2/14/22 but am not able to find these fares on ITA Matrix. Do I need to call delta to book E class?

Use the Fare query in EF to see if there are fares that book into 'E' inventory available for your origination and destination on your dates. You can uncheck 'validate fares' and check 'show fares for all dates' to see if there are fares that are not available for your route or dates.

I believe I have ran the Fare query with the appropriate settings you are suggesting and am still seeing 'E9' on class availability for the flight I am looking to book on 2/14.

The fact that there are E class seats available doesn't necessarily mean that there are any valid fares for which those seats can be used on the kind of itinerary that you have in mind.

What E class fares did you see when you ran the "Fare Information" query? And what rules (validity, stay, etc) were applicable? Did you find any fares whose rules matched your intended trip?

To answer my own question: All the valid fares that book into E class appear to be dual inventory fares. You need more than merely E class inventory. The fares require that there is inventory in V class and E class, or in X class and E class, or in T class and E class.

On the date you mention, all four flights have E class inventory (all at E9).

However, the only flight that has any inventory at all in V, X or T class is DL1712, which has T9 (but X0 V0). So on DL1712 you can book in to E class, using fare TAVNA0BC (according to ITA).

Expertflyer discount?

I didn't see any sales this year. Does this service ever go on sale?

I'm still trying to sort out how to navigate EF, so any support or suggestions would be helpful..

Looking at my upgrade chances on an AA transcon from SFO > JFK, from MCE to business.

The "available classes" show at least 6 open in J, but when I check the seat map it shows that all seats are occupied. Searching AA.com shows that business is still available for purchase.

Usually, it's the other way around when people have purchased a ticket but have not picked a seat yet, so I'm not sure what to make of things in this order.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

I am not an AA expert (anymore), but given that FIrst appears wide open, my guess is they are willing to oversell business and then operationally upgrade if they remain oversold in business at the time of departure.

How do I look up historical on-time performance for a flight?
Looking for information like this:
"Flight AA XYZ
On-time: x %
Delayed (< 30 minutes): y %
Cancelled: z %"

I know I've seen it somewhere on the EF site, but I can't find it now...

Edit: I found the "Reliability" info through the Flight Status Search, but it shows "NA" for my flight.

Any chance of bringing back the ability to search for EK (saver) award availability? :)

That was definitely one of the more useful award search options IMO...

cheltzel Dec 15, 2021 9:47 am

Has there been some change in the way ET handles award availability? Starting sometime in early November, EF (and UA) stopped showing any ET award availability. Other *A airlines (AC specifically) still show the availability.

EF has been broken for months for ET and EY fwiw. No ETA on a fix.

Any idea as to what the underlying cause is?

The ET award data is what we are getting back from the data source. As previously noted it is affecting other websites as well, so when that is fixed it will be reflected on EF as well.

EY awards are currently unavailable and we will post here when they are available again, no ETA to share at the moment.
