My swap from broken QC2 to QC15 was $129, a bit more steep than expecting from others' experiences but better than the $300 I'd pay buying outright to replace. Price was rung up as $89 but that was price of replacing a QC15 with another QC15, so that price was overridden to what was looked up in manual. Tried to point out the $89 price but no luck.
I also just walked in with my old headphones and regular cable, left with the QC15, new cable, and the iphone mic cable. They kept the box to return to Bose the old QC2. Kept my old case and other accessories.

We are currently considering purchasing the Q15 for upcoming trans-pacific flight.
We know that if you purchase this at Bose store, it comes with 5-year warranty at no extra cost.
What happens if you buy it from, Best Buy, Amazon, or other stores?
Does this 5yr warranty comes with purchasing Q15 automatically from elsewhere?
Can anyone share their experiences?
Thank you.

The model of your item you are replacing, my 06' QC2's may be different than newer ones, must have something to do with the price. I just called Bose about my broken QC2's, that I bought in 2006, and the QC15 replacement was $157.

These headset must be about to be replaced as they are on special at the Bose stand bne home show at $317 (less the 10pc gst at the airport and you have a great buy)

Just walked into a Bose store with my QC15s intending to upgrade to QC25s. Clerk told me Bose expressly forbade any trade-ups to QC25. Only trade-in would be if my QC15s were broken—then he'd trade them for a new pair of QC15s.
Last time I bought headphones from this store the employee said he'd be happy to trade-up as long as we go back to same store. So I thought that was policy. I see now from this thread it's only for defective units. I didn't want them for free or anything; was just hoping to get at least $50 for my QC15s. Oh well.
