Any news on when the iPhone will be available in Canada and with which provider?

It activates on the Go plan, which I think can be linked to a CC or bank account. |

Like the others said. Prepaid (actually a combination of pre- and postpaid) is not an "option". It is a last resort Apple offers to people with crap credit. Unless your credit is really poor I don't see anyone here being eligible for this.

Is not the "Go Plan" an AT&T program? Before Cingular became AT&T, I went and bought a Prepaid SIM for use in my R520M at a pretty decent rate, something like $100 for 1000 minutes, I think. I did not want a contract since I only need it when I am at my FLorida residence, where surprisingly, I can ONLY get Cingular (AT& T) service. Otherwise, I would not use AT & T. I was in Corpus Christi airport a few weeks ago and there was NO AT&T service. I only got service when I got to an interstate highway, several miles away. I have a small company and might actually buy an iPhone if they had some kind of prepay option. Othewise, I am happy with Verizon (which works at my NJ home, while AT&T does not and which does NOT work at my Florida residence, while AT&T does:confused:

Got in line at the Ala Moana Shopping Center at 4 pm, bought my phone at 6:34 pm, got home about 6:50 pm, activated within 3 minutes on a new contract/phone number. I decided not to port over my T-Mo number.
The iPhone is amazing. I'm already typing pretty fast with 1 finger. The autocorrection is pretty darn good. Love the visual voicemail. Love the old phone ringtone. YouTube looks really good. The whole finger flicking thing blows my mind. It is so cool. The iPhone just plain works. My friends tell me my call quality/clarity is better than my old SE k790i on T-Mo. Thanks Apple! |
For those of you who got the phone how hard is it to use while driving or in bright sunlight. I had a Verizon touchscreen PDA and I returned it because I found it near impossible to use while driving in bright sunlight. Just wondering if iPhone is somehow better in that respect.

The iPhone *should* be available with a prepaid plan, if you can believe leaked AT&T documents:
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2007/...ore/#more-1248 That said, I wasn't able to put mine on prepaid, but maybe I just gave up too early. Needless to say - with my not being a US resident - activation wasn't exactly smooth sailing. (No, my method won't work for others, so don't ask. Sorry.) I seriously don't understand Apple. How can they think that it's a good idea to subject their $600-phone-buying users to the cesspool that is AT&T customer service? For example, I had a _very_ hard time cancelling my first activation attempt (hastily submitted with the SSN of 000000000) - and I still haven't been able to turn on international calling & roaming. The department that is supposedly able to do this for accounts not older than 90 days seems to have infinite hold times. The piss-poor customer service is just the icing on the cake though. The real problem is the crippled phone. Yeah, my N95's user interface is very dated compared to the iPhone, but it takes any SIM card and works fine. I am able to click any song and set it as a ringtone. I can use the phone as a modem. It even syncs with Exchange in native mode using RoadSync; the iPhone won't even sync with Outlook through iTunes when Outlook is set up as a client to Exchange. And the list goes on. I'm loving many aspects of the phone but also hating others with a passion. |

Studies have shown that using the phone while driving impairs your driving more than driving while under the influence of alcohol, so why are you subjecting people around you to the danger? |
After reading all the reviews, I'm still convinced my Treo does more that the iPhone.

It will work great for many people, but it will also be a source of a lot of frustration for others. |

Personally I think it depends on a variety of different circumstances. I can dial a number on my phone without taking my eyes off the road. I probably pay less attention when a good song comes on the radio. ;) However this is not the topic of this thread. Lets stay on topic. :) |
