My battery life seems to have got better after the 2.2 upgrade.

So if we charge our battery when its 50% used then its only classed as half a charge cycle right?

So that means roughly 800 days before a new battery is required?

Or get a new phone before it runs out.

One of the venture capitalists behind the Palm Pre said he expects all the people who got the original iPhones in June of 2007 to move to the Pre, which he claims is many times faster.

Too sad that AT&T get to screw around with iPhone user for 24 months...
I felt I got punished, with a ~$99/mo and $250 at the checkout, but are only hooked for 6 months due to some national law here in Denmark... After that, I'm a free bird again, and the service provider have to unlock the phone for free!

I'm sure apple hates that part...

So I feel sorry for those who are stuck for 2 yr!

Mobile phone contracts in the US are draconian compared to many other places in the world.

Actually Apple loves it. They got paid the full price for their phone, partly by you and partly by your phone company. It is your phone company that will hate it if you leave them after 6 months.

True! But I have read somewhere that Apple get a big chunck of the revenue that providers make from customers... Or was it only with AT&T? Know that lot of european providers didn't was to share their income with apple...

Bet you're right! Tried that on my own body last summer when I went to US and wanted to buy an AT&T prepaid sim-card!

We got alot stricter rules here in Denmark, but the market here is more liberal I think! For 5 mill people we got 4 different networks, and like 40-50 different service providers... So freat competition, and all are gsm, making it easier to switch to a new provider! And unlike Germany, here it's not illegal to break the sim-lock on your phone!

But looking forward to the 3.0 SW, hopefully very soon! :D

Coming Tuesday, Apple is holding a preview for version 3.0 of the iPhone OS.

Interest is awash with speculation of new features.

Last year, it was free for iPhone users to upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0.

But iPod Touch users had to pay like $10 or $20.

Lot of contracts are coming due at the end of June so they will probably have new iPhones to entice people to sign up again.

Any ideas whats new in 3.0?

wco81 Mar 17, 2009 12:38 pm

Copy and paste, MMS, push notifications, universal search with Spotlight, new stock app.

All in all 1000 new APIs for developers. Some demos shown included an ESPN app. which will notify you of a score and then give you the chance to view video from that game.

An app. for diabetics to track their blood sugar, in combination with a Johnson and Johnson device.

SIMs shown by EA.

Developers can sell you subscriptions for in-game or in-app. purchase. EXamples would be electronic books or items and levels in games.

You can buy maps and then the maps would be used by other apps. So with purchased maps, there will be turn-by-turn directions.

3.0 is coming in June as free update for iPhone customers and $10 for iPod Touch customers.

Unfortunately it doesn't address the iPhone's fatal flaw:

AT&T.

This is a software upgrade, not an announcement of a business deal.

Anyways, in a couple of years, LTE will be upon us and every carrier but Sprint will move to it.

Even if they didn't have a deal with AT&T, it's not worth going to Verizon at this point, just to butt heads on things like Wifi and tethering.

So are the Apple fanboys going to heap praises on the big A for such innovation as multimedia messaging; cut, copy and paste; and push e-mail notification?

What? Other phones have been doing that for years? ;)
