Just completing a stay in London and northern Italy under the new int'l roaming regime and I have to say that T-Mobile has completely BORKED UP one of the very best features they had.

I don't have a problem with the $5/day price. The problems are
  • It is nearly impossible to actually complete the procedure to purchase a pass when on the standard 2G data that comes with T-Mobile service. Actually for me it was *totally* impossible. I tried numerous times and not once was I able to complete the process. Neither in the app nor the mobile web site (the latter of which at one point in the chain of pages has a link that doesn't actually respond to taps!). I see someone posted a direct link in this thread so maybe that would work better but for mere mortals actually buying the pass while abroad is painful without WiFi or already being on the pass.
  • Must be purchased a day at a time. And can't be purchased to target a specific start time (only a date). Seriously, who thought it would be a good idea to eliminate a workflow of great convenience when traveling, from a product feature specifically designed for travelers?
Hopefully T-Mo will bring back a way to pre-purchase multi-day starting at a specific date *and* time. Until then, I consider this feature to be much less useful than it was. Instead of being a satisfied T-Mo customer marveling at how awesome and easy it was to roam with my phone, I was cursing them under my breath for a week straight.

They should have an option to just have default "ON" status. That is, if you toggle it on, it would automatically charge you $5 whilst roaming. If they did this, I might leave FI.

I edited the WIKI to reflect essentials not having data but having SMS and 25c calls

Yes agree - this does suck - use the direct link I put up as it limits loading info that isn't needed. Also WHAT phone do you have. I've not had issues on buying the pass on 2G data while using a Google Pixel device with Chrome. The mobile browser compatibility on my T-Mobile.com sucks entirely.

iPhone 8 Plus. If I get into this situation again I will try your direct link. It will still suck, but a little less.

FYI - r:oaming in Madagascar works great! In Antananarivo I get 2G speeds on a 4G connection. In far flung places without 4G I get Edge (or whatever the local network supports).

Dont see Uruguay in the Wiki, but did a trip through Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil and worked great. Uruguay was Claro Uruguay mostly and would occasionally jump to Movistar. Found Claro to be a bit better with speeds. iPhone SE and basic T-Mo One for reference

Masked phone numbers and not recieving all calls?

Currently roaming in Greece.. Has anyone experienced an issue where both outbound and inbound numbers appear as a random Italian or French number? This occurs whether its wifi-calling or not and the same exact issue happens on my wife's phone. I have a Galaxy s7 and she has an iphone8... tmobile support was not very helpful, went thru the usual.. "master reset" talk..

I had that happen too, while roaming in Croatia and Bosnia on TMO. It's likely an issue between TMO and the roaming carriers - I wouldn't bother trying to troubleshoot your phone or account. They'll just screw something up.

Has been happening to me all summer in Greece. I'm just ignoring it. But I've learned that they're not scam callers and usually from people I actually know trying to get in touch with me.

Ironic because the best experience I've had with T-Mobile roaming was the summer when they let you roam at full LTE speeds.

That was fun.

Just make sure you have data roaming turned to (on) on your phone. You will LOVE FI. You get what amounts to the same T-mo coverage w/ full speed LTE roaming everywhere. No little song and dance every day to re-enable full speed like on T-Mo.

Just got back from India where I was getting 40mbps down and 9 up in southern India (TRV). Before that, was in China (visiting my iPhone's birthplace CGO) where I got 80mbps down.

Improved Non-Ambiguous Message When Roaming with T-Mobile ONE Plus

T-mobile has changed the welcome SMS you get when roaming with ONE Plus to remove the former ambiguity.

The old message, which I last received in May, was "Welcome to the United Kingdom! T-Mobile ONE Plus gives you unlimited data at 2X the speed....." The new message: Welcome to United Kingdom. Your T-mobile ONE Plus gives you data at 2X the speed....."

Adding the word "your" removes the former ambiguity - the old message could mean that you had ONE Plus, or it could be an advert to add ONE Plus. While I knew that I had ONE Plus, the old message always made me a bit nervous.
