Like most carriers, timing is everything. Your best deals are typically during a limited time promotion. I got in on a ONE Plus Promotion in March of last year with a bunch of stackable discounts. I currently have 11 voice lines and an Apple Watch LTE line. My monthly bill is $185 with no taxes or junk fees. That is with unlimited service, 10Gb tethering, 256kbps international data roaming, free Canada & Mexico, 1 hour GoGo, etc. on every line.
BTW, that article in Forbes seemed wrong about T-Mobile ONE for Canada & Mexico. As I recall, the basic plan has free high speed (5Gb) data and all the other stateside features included without any additional fees or add-ons. |

Free Roaming now Available in Andorra
Somewhat ambiguous on T-mobile website, confirmed on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/com...ee_now_or_not/

Yay, another 180 sq miles I can roam in

Hey, I was there last year and missed it. So, if it happens to be the 180 sq. miles you happen to be in - it's a very good thing.

Any recent experience in Belarus?
I'll be there in June, and the website says it is part of the ONE and Simple Choice plans. But the website also said this in Estonia, and when I traveled there, nothing worked. T-Mobile said it was disabled at the time, although nothing about it on their website. |
Didn't there used to be a wiki attached to this thread listing carriers that worked and didnt work, etc?

It's still there (scroll all the way to the end of the wikipost) but appears pretty dated.

We do ALOT of international travel, thus alot of international calling. When I am calling I always use google voice. Most places are 1 cent minute.

Hey guys, does anyone have updated instructions on how to check the usage on a data pass? I used to go to the ma.web2go.com site but it seems T-Mobile has removed that page. We have an active data pass on one of our lines and can't see any usage info anywhere on my.t-mobile.com. It would be nice to have a quick way to check it rather than contacting Customer Support. I tried asking them but didn't get any useful answers...

Just back from Japan with my iPhone X, T-Mo edition.
Stupid move on my part. Bought the T-Mo phone instead of the regular world phone version. This was a hassle to use - worked well about 80% of the time. Other times, I had no service while my wife's iPhone SE was just fine. Lesson learned. Always get the phone with the most bands. |
There are no bands on the SE (1,2,3,4,5,8,12,13,17,18,19,20,25,26,29) that aren't also on the T-Mobile/AT&T X (1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,17,18,19,20,25,26,28,29,30,34 ,38,39,40,41,66), so it wasn't that.
Both X variants support exactly the same LTE bands, so buying the other X wouldn't have helped. Japan doesn't operate any CDMA (that you get access to) or TD-SCDMA networks (the only difference between the models on the connectivity front) so the difference in connectivity you experienced is due to some other factor. I was just in Japan recently with an X and had connectivity absolutely everywhere except during the ride up to Mt. Fuji, which is normal - the Fuji Subaru Line doesn't really have much in the way of coverage, but the stations do. You also can manually change the network to one that has better coverage if necessary – my partner's iPhone 6s+ tried to use Softbank for most of the trip which did appear to have worse coverage than NTT. Switching them lead to better (perceived) coverage. |
Hmm. OK. Glad to hear I didn't really blow it. I was on docomo most of the time.
Generally, if I went into airplane mode and back out, I'd get coverage again. When my data failed, I still generally showed LTE and several bars. My wife had the same, but hers just worked consistently. I can't believe it's my hardware. Works without problems at home and in Europe. |
