You can’t always buy at vending machines. Lot of countries require registration of photo I’d by the carriers due to anti terrorism laws. secondly, airport deals are often worse, as they try to overcharge you for convenience. |

I wasn't notified, nor did I expect it (in fact anticipated buying passes a/r), but my T-Mobile line got 4G for the entire month of May while I island hopped in Greece. The only time I had slower speeds was when I went outside of Cosmote coverage areas (rare). Btw, all calls were 20 cents/min. - inside Greece, to other European countries, or to US; mobile or landline.
These features are baked into my unltd. data, text, and (North American) voice plan (Simple Choice).

At time YES, like the World Cup in Russia. Considering SoftBank (Japanese company) owns a big chunk of Sprint right now wouldn't be a shocker.

These features are baked into my unltd. data, text, and (North American) voice plan (Simple Choice). It was terrific. But then they came out with the One plan, including the One Plus in order to get higher tethering speeds and I kind of suspected we wouldn't see those kinds of promotions again. |

The calling though, does that include calls between included countries as well? When I was last with TMo $.20/min was the rate if I called within country, back home, or to another included country. If this is now included in the daily pass, this is a no brainer for me.

Yes it includes calls to OTHER countries on the list in the Wiki - those are all within the scope of county to country calls being included

That's one hell of a deal for international calling, which presumably includes calls to mobile phones.

Yeah Irony is that the Domestic calling plan for Intl numbers ISN'T this liberal. Since you are deemed to be under 50% use for Intl Roaming the abusers who use this for full time wouldn't get much out of it. Besides if you used it each day for 30 days - it's $150 extra revenue TMO gets - so I would expect the end result is most people will call the US and the local country they are in and they come out about even.

I don't know why anyone would use the domestic plan - most of the time you come out ahead with google Voice or some other dial-around service.

I use Viber and other VOIP apps. |

Which 'Domestic' plan are you referring to? I've got Stateside International for $15/month. I love it because all my international calls are covered and I don't have the hassle of remembering to use a dial-ar:eek:und service. Forgetting could otherwise be costly as just calling Europe is several dollars/minute. Am I missing anything?
Google Voice automatically routes all "+" international calls that are dialed on the phone to a Google Voice controlled domestic number where the call is cross-connected to the number I dialed. Totally seamless.. |

Question for this group: my folks are going to Iceland for a few days and are worried that their TMo One Plus plan will be sufficient for Google Maps. Does anyone have experience with this?
Likewise, make sure you Restrict Background Data to make sure there isn't an app in the background chewing away on your precious data stream. This made the biggest difference for me. Also, if your web browser has a Data Saver option, enable it or use a browser like Opera Mini which has data compression. |
So, this means incoming Stateside calls (think: clever telemarketers and wrong numbers) are free now while abroad?

I'm in the Maldives now. I got the included 2G data, text, and 25 cents/minute calls message, so the expanded location list seems to be working. My phone seems to be connecting to Ooredoo but only HSPA, not LTE.

Getting throttled 2G is one thing but their HSPA should be more in the range of 512Kb to 3Mb/sec - a lot of maldives is microwave back haul so don't expect great speeds if in less LOCAL populated areas (e.g. resorts) |
