How strong are summer winds?

I was up on the Peak in November, at night, and it was pretty strong, making it tough to take long exposures.

Unless there is a typhoon, the winds are not gale force - just the general trend is southerlies from the ocean.

Any Suggestions for Seoul? I'll be going there for the first time in September.

Another suggestion for HK during the day, is the Dragon's Back Trail Sorry couldn't find a better link for it. With it you can get a view of both sides of HK island. .

Is it hard to get to Hoboken?

There is suppose to be a park along the waterfront with views of the Manhattan skyline.

I'm not sure. I do know that you can get good shots of downtown from ferry ride over to the Statue of Liberty and from the statue.

Downtown:

Midtown:

Times Square:

Are the midtown ones from some observation deck?

Using a tripod?

Yes they were taken from the observation deck. The shots were handheld bc I don't believe they allow tripods up there. Those nighttime shots were taken with a Sony Nex 5N using the hand-held nighttime setting. The daytime photos were also shot with the Sony.

I found a nice place to get the Austin skyline. Take Riverside Drive and pull off into one of the parking areas west of the event center. Walk a couple hundred feet across the street to the river and find a spot without trees in your way.

It can be a bit muddy and a flashlight will be helpful.

Two of my favorites in Boston:
1. The Harbor Islands, as mentioned earlier. This is good for views of the financial district skyline.

2. The corner of Mass Ave & Memorial Dr. in Cambridge. There's a park that runs along the Charles that you can get great shots of the Back Bay skyline, especially at night. On a clear day, you can see as far west as the Citgo sign & the lights of Fenway park if they're on.

San Diego: Centennial Park in Coronado gives you views from the U.S.S. Midway to the Hilton past the convention center.

Seattle: West Seattle, along Aliki Dr., gives a view from the Space Needle to the downtown area with Eliot Bay in the foreground. Go far enough north on Aliki and there are several parks you can take shots from.

I took a bus from the Port Authority on 42nd. It doesn't come too often but it runs along the Jersey waterfront after emerging from the Lincoln Tunnel. You can take the light rail along the coast all the way down to Hoboken and catch the PATH back to Midtown. Alternatively, you can just PATH to Hoboken and light rail up and down the coast.

I'm going to be in Taipei next month and would like to get a skyline shot with the Taipei 101 in it. Any suggestions where to set up?

Elephant Hill is a great place to take photos of the 101. It is, however, a bit of a hike. Here's a photo taken from Elephant Hill: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dans180/22181412/
