Cincinnati - the "cut in the hill" on I-71/75 northbound from the airport into town. The view from Mount Adams or Devou Park (Kentucky) are good, too.

One of the nicest skyline is Hongkong (esp. at night) at good weather condition.

Best fotography is on the main promenade (Betweeen Star ferry pier and avenue of stars). In my opinion, the view is for photos better then from the peak. But I never had the luck to have nice weather when i on the peak.

Agree on the Hong Kong location, actually I prefer the top floor parking garage by Ocean Terminal as you can get the nice HK skyline, plus the star ferry pier as a bonus.

Here are couple of my locations:

Yokohama, Japan. By the Nipponmaru/Yokohama Marintime Museum.

Frankfurt:
Top of Main Tower

Alte Brücke (Main Bridge)

Atlanta - North Avenue Bridge over I-75 (across from The Varsity)

There's a hole in the chain-link that allows clear shots, and it's an ideal place for long shutter-speed shots with the interstate feeding into the city. I would post an example, but they're all on my desktop.

Both are great vantage points.

Try also the TGMB (both north & south towers) observation deck. You see Tokyo 360. FREE.

Hong Kong Peak: no admission fees needed. The building next to the Peak Tram Sky Terrace.

Point Loma in San Diego.
It closes before sunset
and the skyline is a little far away but still a beautiful setting.

Two for Budapest.

One from a location outside the Hilton up near the castle, and 2) the deck outside the executive lounge at the Marriott.

FTers who shoot skyline photos might also be interested in this dpreview Challenge, "Bad Weather over the City." It closes Wednesday, Sept. 22 (UK time).

Don't you need a long lens to get the City skyline from that location? I took some pics from the SF side of the GGB and the skyscrapers looked distant from there.

Seems like Treasure Island gets you a closer view of the skyline.

Panoramio has pics from all these locations.

So when is good weather?

I was there at the end of January a few years ago, just before Chinese New Year's.

You couldn't look across the harbor without seeing the haze all the time. Such a short distance too.

Apparently it's always like that during winter?
