I've got #475 & #476 booked for early November as a UA award, TG still shows my original seats and 747 all series as the aircraft in my booking. United has now changed over the aircraft to 777-300 in my reservation but still shows First (O).

My original itinerary was LAX-ICN (OZ F on the 380), ICN-BKK (TG J on the 777) and BKK-SYD (TG F on 747) with the same routing on the return. I've looked at routing through NRT, TPE, SIN, and can't come up with an acceptable alternative to TG J for BKK-SYD and return, so I guess I'm stuck with TG. I guess I should be proactive and call TG for seat assignments (praying for the 77W).

Just called UA to cancel a reservation for march.
They want $200 to cancel even though there is no First
they said they will recredit the miles for F to J but won't cancel for free.
Im on the supervisor at present.
they will cancel for free if a time change but not a cabin change.

Have you considered CA? ICN-PEK in C class on OZ or CA, PEK-SYD in CA F class.

THAI on late-Monday and early-Tuesday (01/02SEP14) has started updating its planned Winter 2014/15 operation on gradual basis, effective 26OCT14.
[...]
Bangkok – Sydney eff 26OCT14 747-400 replaced by following aircraft, resulting in cancellation of First Class Service:
TG471/472 3 weekly 777-300
TG475/476 1 daily 777-300ER

Looks like it...but then that has always been the case for W14 schedule...never at any time has it shown 77W. I noticed I have a schedule change for TG461 in January and still the aircraft is 777-200/300 with 2-2-2 seat map...so I think it's a done deal it's gone til S15 timetable.

Thai has to be one of the most disorganised carriers on earth, the way they chop and change schedules/aircraft types to destinations is just about unheard of in the world. The customers and travel agents just can't keep up with the continual changes. Nobody can rely on Thai, it was bad before but I think it's getting even worse.

To be fair to Thai, they're Australian routes have been fairly consistent over the years. I think all of us from Melbourne are just disappointed every other state gets the 777 - 300ER and Perth gets the 787 and we're stuck with the 200's....

I guess it totally makes sense in TG's mind to give the highest capacity and longest Australian route their old aircraft...

Also. I'm almost certain TG had the 777-300ER for 461/462 for S14. 465/466 have only been running the 777-300ER for the past 3 days... apparently until october 25. and it's gone after that!

Yes they did...but it was never loaded past Oct 25th. So months ago when I booked 461 for Jan it was 2-2-2 seat map...so in a sense, they haven't changed from their original plan, but there is no consistency on the route.

The only an only time I flew 461/2 during the S14 timetable, yup, you guessed it, aircraft change to 773 2 days before travel...I'm still yet to set foot on their 77W!

Consistent you think?

The lottery of AVOD/non AVOD went on for many years here until they finally installed AVOD on the 777-200 economy cabins, and the -200/200ER/300 lottery happens all the time, with middle seats on -300s in business class. Now it's a lottery as to whether you get a -300ER, even when the midnight flight was scheduled -300ER there was many swaps.

The 747's to Sydney have had a lottery on First class from old seats, to new seats and now between new seats and suites. AVOD had also been a lottery on the 747's for a while.

Brisbane never knows what kind of 777 they will get, 300, 300ER - 200... it can vary.

I have SYD-BKK-SYD, TG 475/476 Booked in First for Xmas both directions and it seems that my booking is now is Business but the plane it seems is now confirmed to be the nicer seat 777-300ER?

Given the TG money woes anything can happen in 3 or 4 months but do those here feel this will stay fixed re aircraft type?

The day I am booked the J cabin is full, unsurprisingly given the flight was showing F0 months ago. A 772/3 would not have enough J seats to accommodate all current J pax...so you would assume that TG will do its best to send the 77W...but this is TG. You will not know for sure until the inbound leaves BKK!
