I have noticed this frequently as well in recent weeks, feels like maybe around the time of the last update. It *may* be more likely to occur if I navigate away from the page quickly (I am a fast reader :) ) -- maybe whatever code it is that updates the "last read" pointer hasn't had enough time to be triggered or something. It feels like if I let it sit for a while before closing the page then I have this problem less. But also it could just be that I'm refreshing the page and this is placebo effect.
BTW although I feel like the issue I reported here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tech...oad-times.html has gotten *slightly* better, but only slightly -- for example on a thread of let's say 100 pages, it will randomly load page 30 (say), and you can briefly see those old posts (often years old) but then a second or two later it will jump to the actual first new post that might be on page 99 or 100, which IMO observationally supports my blackbox testing hunch here: I mention it here because there may be a common thread of, what all the heck is the page load code doing, and might it be over-bloated and time for some optimization... |

I think you nailed it. There is a certain amount of time for all pages and elements (both visible and unseen) to load, depending on connection speed.

Has there been a change made to scrolling recently? I finally got used to the scrolling past my "40 posts per page" and now it seems that it does not do that any more. I normally go to the last post in the thread and just scroll back from there. Now when I hit the "top" of my current page it stops and I have to click on previous page.

Only the most recent ten or so posts are shown and the only options buttons are to go to the beginning or the end of the thread |

Edited to add: actually both - desktop and mobile with Android. |
Thanks guys, will report to tech

For info, same here - MacBook and safari.

Same here on android mobile, and I noticed it at work on a Windows desktop using chrome on Friday. Infinite scroll is completely down.
|
Hasn't worked for me for a couple of days.

My scroll just stops and I can’t even enter next page to move forward. Just cannot continue at all. Refresh doesn’t help. iPhone 11 iOS. This is as far as I go in this thread (but happens in all threads). Edit: now that I’ve posted this reply, you can see the posts in between that wouldn’t show. This screenshot was taken when I posted this and was the last visible post.

Same here
No next page button

Exactly the same here. Android phone (Galaxy S9), iPad air 2, desktop, both for chrome and safari.

This is still being worked on, our team just got to it on Friday, so it was cut short before the weekend.
|
Desktop and Firefox, just for another datapoint. Infinite scroll doesn't work either forwards OR backwards, but I do have the bar at the bottom with the page navigation options.

Should be fixed now

I can confirm infinite scroll now works on my mobile. It's still not marking pages as read though. I've tried on 2 threads, if there are more than one page, I need to refresh once on the following pages to mark them as read.

It's not obvious, but if you tap on the numbers in between the << and >> where it says e.g. "23/24" to show you're on page 23 of 24 or whatever, you can type in the number of the next page. This is a horribly cumbersome workaround though, so hopefully either they fix infinite scroll soon, or better yet, nest single-page controls inside the first/last controls, like << < 23/24 > >> so that people who don't want infinite scroll on mobile can have an option too.

Just noticed there was a thread dedicated to infinite scroll, so I'll continue the report here instead.
Apostrophes are being rendered into multiple spaces, and it seems to occur more frequently with specific users. It occurs on macOS and Chrome, but not Windows and Chrome. On Firefox, the apostrophes are deleted completely (e.g. That's --> Thats). To recreate the issue: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/31352812-post6.html Examples: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/31748113-post1596.html https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/31519253-post1519.html https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/31600328-post1536.html https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/31604715-post1544.html |

IBJoel, were you able to recreate the apostrophe bug on macOS? It may perhaps interest you to know that posts by JDiver generate the bug.

No, I did not see it even on mobile. It sounds like it's an issue of running Chrome on iOS?

Infinite scroll still not working correctly for me. I’ll be half way down page 33 to suddenly end up on page 31.
Latest iOS on a XR and new 11, so it’s not my phones... Why can’t you just let us choose to turn it off!?!? |

A lot of users switch to desktop mode on their phones to bypass infinite scroll (I say this because you are new to the site).
I'm still confused as why you can't just let the mobile template users turn the "feature" off? |
I notice that since today*, infinite scroll seems to work better: posts are marked as read, and the like buttons work on subsequent pages, at least on my mobile. Kudos to the devs/admin teams!
*I noticed today but it might have worked since a bit longer |
Sorry, you can delete this post.
|
Is it not possible to disable infinite scroll? It really doesn't work well for me.

Hi,
Posts aren't being marked as read again when using chrome mobile. They're fine on the 'current' page, but any subsequent pages being loaded by infinite scrolling, posts aren't being marked as read as I browse them. When I return to my subscriptions, they're still marked as not read, and if I click on first unread it will take me to the start of a page I've already read. |

I could not replicate this. Are you using Desktop View? Was working perfectly in Mobile Skin.
