Same - Infinite Scroll is disabled, and now happens all over again.

I don't like it at all.

Once it was turned off last week, the option to opt out disappeared too.

If you disabled it last week, you'll need to do it again.

Go to MyFlyerTalk, Edit Options, scroll down to "Disable Desktop Infinite Scroll" and check the box, and SAVE CHANGES.

Mine was checked.

I unchecked it and saved.

Then I rechecked it and saved.

I still have it - on some threads.

If you have it on some threads, then you have it -- it only kicks in when there are 15+ posts in a thread.

Try changing your style picker (lower left corner dropdown) to "FT Desktop".

That works for that one page. But the next page I open (if I click a link in an email) is back to the scroll.

Is it only switching when you click a link in an email?

Please tell us what browser and version you're using, what device, what your style chooser setting is, ensure you have cookies enabled and are not clearing them, and of course be logged in at all times.

If your opt-out is not sticking, please report the sequence of actions you're taking. Thank you.

Any time I change threads, I'm back to the old scroll, whether it's from an email or from the site.

I'm using Chrome 55.0.2883.95 on a Mac.

Oh, I had this exact same problem too! Unfortunately since it's set to be the default style, opting out wont work.

So, with that said, you'll need to go into the "My Options" page and both disable infinite scroll and change the default style/skin to FT Desktop ..also dont forget to save!

Thats the solution!

But the admins really need to fix when you "Disable infinite scroll", it should force that across all skins, instead of requiring the user to specify FT Desktop manually.

I agree 100%, but heck, I'm just really happy that they are giving us the option to turn it off at all. I thought my days as a FTer were over.

Ugh. Looks like they haven't fixed it. Go back to the screenshot I made and set the forum skin to FT Desktop as the default skin is still infinite scroll. And like always don't forget to save!

When infinite scroll was first rolled out, I disabled it immediately. All was well since then. But for the last couple days, every thread once again defaults to infinite scroll. It is still checked as disabled in "My Flyertalk". Yes, I am logged in. What else can I do? I can't stand this feature.

EDIT: Ok, I hadn't seen the second part of the wiki and now I'm good. Only opting out worked last month. I'm not sure why the second step with the skin needed to be done just in the last couple days.

Someone, not naming names here, set the default skin to infinite scroll instead of FT Desktop. As a result of that, opting out wouldn't work as it would revert to that style anyways.

I followed the wiki very specifically. I still getting the infinite scroll, despite setting the "FT Desktop" and "Disable Infinite Scroll." The real issue though is the infinite scrolling giving me this task bar at bottom of the Web page. Thus, is taking up space and reducing the usable screen sizes.

Does anybody have a recommendation?

It seems the infinite scroll not too popular. Perhaps the "FT Desktop" can be set to default, and the "Infinite Scroll" should be the opt-in. Not other way around.

Plus, now I required to log in even if not replying to thread or posting.

I have the infinite scroll turned off. Sometime in the last few hours it has reappeared for me when logged in - despite having it disabled. And yes, my default is also set to FT Desktop. Basically every annoying thing that I had turned off has reappeared.

Same here, but happens only when I visit these two sticky threads about infinite scroll and trending forum home page & only in Technical Support and Feedback Forum.

Not sure how IB rolls out any feature with such inconsistent behavior. :confused:

Same as the above posts, settings are as per the wiki and saved, but the infinite scroll skin reappears. I see the settings page says some forums may override your skin choice, so some clarification on that would be helpful.

There's another intrusion at the bottom of the screen occasionally too, with a Forum Jump box. Is this related or do I need another fix to get rid of it?

In the meantime, appologies to FT admins, I have resorted to having ABP and NoScript blacklist those modules so they dont run. It simply gets way too obnoxious having it hinder my otherwise productive and entertaining time on FT.

Note that there is no space between any of the ?styleid=17 in the above. For some reason the Flyertalk forum putting space between ?styleid and =17. I have it removed here, but always shows back up.

The only annoying thing about it is that the script has to autoreload the page for it to take effect, hence increasing page load times. Sometimes even it gets stuck in a refresh loop so you have to disable it after the first run. -If we can find a way around that, we're in the clear. Anyways: HUGE +1 for the script ^^^

While we're at it we might as well make a script where everytime you type in FT search, it replaces the page with google and "site:flyertalk.com {search query}" in the search bar.

Posts scrolling automatically
 

When I am using the forum when viewing a forum post, the page scrolls up by itself a small amount every 3 seconds. Since other forum pages work OK, it might have something to do with the thread tools - for example for this post, scrolling doesn't occur. It only seems to occur when the thread tools bar is active at the bottom of the page.

Thread example - any, so here is just a random thread:

Here is an example of what happens. Screenshot 1 is of the forum post, Screenshot 2 is 12 seconds later, as the page jerks up a tiny amount every 3 seconds.

I disabled my Adblocker program (and will keep it disabled to support the site), but this has not resolved the issue. I don't have any problems viewing other websites, and I do not use many additional plugins.

Since you don't have any other reports it is probably a problem unique to me, but could you test it anyway?

When testing in IE, the problem didn't happen.

So is there anyway to get the Infinite Scroll turned back off? Seeing as how I'd already done the steps to turn it off and yet it's reappeared?

Strangely enough it is also happening from my laptop at home, a different machine to my work PC. Such an odd littler quirk!

At this moment, no. You're only options are the following.

Stop supporting FT, get ABP, and use the 'Block an ad on this page' for each of the modules.

enter "?styleid=17" at the end of each FT URL. (might as well just select the FT desktop option from the dropbox at the bottom :mad:)

or get the Tampermonkey extension and use that script that Spanish made.
Keep in mind the script still is a tad buggy and needs to be disabled after the first refresh as otherwise your browser will be sent into a refresh loop.

Something tells me the aadmins (despite this being a typo, I kinda want to keep this :D) disabled the 'opt out' function from actually working which means that despite making the style FT Desktop, it will no longer use it and revert to I.S.

Update: And now suddeny certain threads revert to I.S. while others dont.. Weird.

I do not know why the script is refreshing screen constantly for you. Is it keep adding "?styleid=17" over and over? I already fix that issue for me.

I run Debian Jessie with Iceweasel & Windows 8.1 with the Firefox. Neither are having issue with the script.

Do you have the following in script?

That is the part preventing it from continuously adding. It asking itself "Does URL already end in ?styleid=17, and if so, we will leave the URL alone."

Copied the script verbatim into Tamper monkey on Windows 10 Aniversary Edition with the latest version of Chrome. For some reason, it just keeps testing the URL and even if it passes or has already updated the URL it'll just keep going

I haven't tried running this directly as a GreaseMonkey script, but just reading things over I think there's an extra space in the version in the wiki:

there's a space between styleid and =17 that should be removed.

Took the one directly from his post. However, I could see that being a fatal error as when it looks for that query in the URL it won't find it or add the proper path in place of it. Hence a refresh loop, though the space doesn't exist for my copy of the script. I'll review it again when I can and record the outcome.

Using iOS I tried replicating with Chrome, Safari. Nope, not for me.

You very correct. There should be no spacing there! I do not know how the space got to my posting, because it is not on my script.

The space ruins the argument completely. No wonder you having issues with it. I will correct the previous postings. One of you should correct the Wiki. I have not enough time / postings on the Flyertalk.
