EDIT: To get things usable again I put the following DNS entries (all the domains accessed captured from a trace when things get stuck) into the local hosts file. Not a solution that I like, but it at least allows me to post this .

If I get time to figure out which is the specific cause I'll let you know, but spending an hour to get to this point is already frustrating enough !

Holy bad advice, just so everyone else knows - while it would, likely, work - this hosts file will quite literally break the internet. It'll prevent Google from loading.

Don't worry folks, it won't break 'the internet'. My own specific experience may be enhanced or degraded, but yours will continue as before . BTW, Google still works as (to me surprise) there is some anti-tampering feature of Windows Defender that removes redirects of certain well-known sites.

It wasn't advice to everyone to do the same, and hopefully no one would just do something suggested by a complete stranger that mangles their internet settings.

It was info that hopefully will allow the IB team to figure out who / what may be sending over the flaky content.

This happens in threads where a member has posted a large photo that extends the post size without extending the browser frame. Sorry about that.

Is there anything I can do about it when someone else posts a large photo?

Is there something I can do about it if I post a large photo?

It's just a glitch in the software. To avoid it, just post smaller pics, or use the attachment feature, which turns them into thumbnails that open full size only when you lick on them.

Eight of the screen hogging ads today. Started out a few weeks only when visiting Chase, but now it seems to be randomly distributed amongst the fora. Also the grayed out window with no sponsor is now the most prevalent.

Welcome to the Internet where people do do random .... they see online without understanding what it does. Thus why I felt that hosts file deserved a warning that it would break large portions of the Internet (Google hosts content a lot of people don't even think of... Such as the site search on many others' websites)

The ad is still appearing more than once per day.

And there is a second ad, one with no content, only a grayed out screen with an X to click.

Are you seeing the IHG ad while you are logged in?

Yes, while logged in and white logged out. Multiple times per day. Same with the Hyatt ad of the same type.

Tripreport forum on iPad

Hello

I'm using an iPad Air 2 with iOS 9.2.1. Ads cover up the right side of the top of the first page on all posts of the Tripreport forum, it doesn't happen on the following pages.

Thanks
Holzklasse

Welcome to FlyerTalk, Holzklasse.

I'm sure our Tecnical Support staff will see this Tuesday (Monday is a national holiday in the USA).

Thank you.
