I'm in Canada.
I recently posted in another forum, the following:
I'm getting the
A problem occurred with this webpage
message most of the time now.
Safari for Mac
Firefox for Mac
So it doesn't appear to be browser specific.
All message content has loaded properly, then the message appears. It certainly appears to be related to the video ads.

Yes. I updated my iOS today and it is behaving properly so far.
I was one version behind. I don't usually update until a few months after a release because there invariably seem to be bugs with the new releases. Hopefully this will resolve the issue. I'm still puzzled by the fact that the problem wasn't occurring on other sites except very occasionally. When it did, it reloaded once and that was it. On FT it reloaded repeatedly then crashed.

As we've had three different threads dealing with the same issue, delays, slow downs and disruptions caused by advertising, we have consolidated them here.
It's easier to monitor these in one thread, and easier to discern issues or answers to others about similar problems in one thread.

As I mentioned above, you can block the Game Of War ad by turning off JavaScript in iOS Safari. (Settings/Safari/Advanced/JavaScript) The forum will be less pretty, but it's usable.
This suggests to me that it's not a Trojan, as does its periodic disappearance and reappearance.

A few things I have found by experimenting. It disappears if you enable an ad blocking app which confirms it is coming from a compromised advert.
Secondly, and I have no idea why, it only appears when I view FT using cellular data (Vodafone in my case), and never when I am using wifi. This isn't country specific as write this from Germany where it has been appearing too when connected to 4G.

Yesterday I had a new one, with the same effect and data:text header as the Game of War ad, but a different ad. It looked a bit like the Jelly Splash ad jcm9000 posted above as a possible trigger, but of course I didn't think to take a screen shot. Must try harder.

Initial results suggest that, like travellingblade, I only get these on mobile data. That's... pretty weird. (3 UK, iPhone 6, mobile safari.).
I'll keep any eye out for any momentary interstitials. The worry is that, whatever the mechanism, these things are spreading and getting more customers. It's not the app store redirect so much, though that is annoying, so much as the way it eats your current page—in a way that means the back button takes you back to an earlier page than the one you wanted, and with your unread flags set wrong.

One thing that helps, since FlyerTalk doesn't use SSL/TLS is to turn on Chrome Data Saver on Android. This gets you a US IP and FlyerTalk isn't nearly as bad to US users. That said, at some point we should all just leave and make another site to go to because it's clear those who own FlyerTalk don't care about their readers. This could all be solved by changing to more legitimate and less sleazy advert providers.

This (the below quoted issue) is happening every time I visit now. Incredibly disruptive as I cannot view any post as I can't close the ad without it reloading itself and opening up the iPhone App Store app. It is not good for the product brand loyalty nor to site/forum encouraging more views.
I am a UK user too and have been plagued by the 'Game of War' pop up as shown a few pages back and it makes FT all but unusable on my iPhone. I can swipe back when it appears but often it just then reloads if the same dodgy ad has been served.

Yes, I've cleared the cache entirely.
It took several seconds for me to type the last sentence as advertisements slows everything to a crawl. (Im now typing in a text editor, and Im going to cut & paste this in.) Spinning beachball and everything.
Ive had to log in with Firefox, which is at least operable. Safari wont even load the page properly now. Thats Safari 7.1.8 on Mac OS X 10.9.5.
I cant stand the annoying video ads at the bottom of the page, now with soundclips talking over me.
My FlyerTalk experience is just ruined. I used to love this site. Its now become a painful chore to visit.

Oh great.
And then I went to view a thread, and got a dialog box asking if I wanted to stop the script. I did stop the script, and I had to Force Quit Firefox, as it was not responding.
Here's what I could copy & paste from the dialog box:
