Based on the majority of opinions expressed in this thread, the forum name was retained and the description/subtitle was revised as noted above by dhammer53. As suggested by Markie upthread, the latter was done administratively, as it did not require TalkBoard approval.

I think this was a good outcome. Though I wish it also had a disclaimer saying "Westchester County, contrary to popular belief, is not, in fact, "Upstate"

Yes -- anything south of Poughkeepsie (some would argue, Kingston) is "Downstate".

Upstate NY is not a place from where you can take a commuter train to Manhattan.

Yes, some think that Upstate begins in Riverdale. Some are also bad with geography (or maybe they've just never been there).
