We had this discussion a few months ago when you weren't participating in this forum. I can't even recall what the motion then was, but one Talk Board member voted five minutes after it was posted. I learned from that discussion that some Talk Board members already have their minds made up the minute the motion is introduced, and they don't need to listen to the members thoughts. It's just the way it is. At least they're being up front and not dancing around the issue.
One way around this is to have a discussion with members before the issue is put up for a vote, and then craft the motion based on the discussion. That didn't happen here. |
I don't think 3 days will make a difference as to what the outcome of this is.. To me, I would think those who voted no last time around voted no and those voting yes have already done so..

If the motion passes, and I hope it does not, the next logical step in my opinion would be to abandon the titles "FlyerTalk Evangelist" and "A FlyerTalk Posting Legend" since they would no longer indicate only members with a high contribution rate to travel related topics but also members that can count to 29,345. For me the two titles still indicate a person with a certain level of knowledge, especially in forums I only visit occassionaly with specific questions.

Well judging from hints from other threads, it seems like this motion has all been but been decided. Maybe its time to move on to the next TB administrative procedure vote.

Or maybe onto making wiki posts work! @:-)^
ETA: Although that looks like a technical limitation to the VB software at this point. |

After reading your posts in this thread and your overwhelming vitriol for RichMSN, it's quite astounding that you haven't shared the same opinion about bhatnasx, especially after this post made just hours after this thread was started:
How? Because it's quite obvious that the opinions of 56 people don't necessarily represent the wishes of over 377,000 members. The TB members have to vote their conscience as well as taking into consideration the wishes of the members. The majority of those against this proposal have expressed the completely nonsensical opinion that they are against OMNI posts counting because they want post counts to ONLY reflect the amount of travel knowledge shared by a member. It has been demonstrated numerous times that there are countless posts (and entire threads) in the main section of FT that are not travel related. So, as it is now, posts count do not, in any way shape or form, represent only a member's travel related knowledge shared. I applaud the TB members who discount these nonsensical opinions and choose to go with common sense instead.

Yeah, but we can bang on IB to fix that! @:-)

And my reason then is the same as my reason now: FT is about point and miles AND community. And OMNI builds a sense of community.
So please don't feel like your input is unwelcome or useless here. Every poster has the opportunity to make an argument for or against any proposal. Or even come up with proposals of your own. And I promise that, even if I don't agree with your argument, it will at least be read considered.

Once again, let me remind you that only a very small percentage of Omni threads are counting games. Omni helps build the community. Omni also helps [substantially] to pay the bills. If you think that Omni is of such little worth, demand that IB drop it (and be prepared with a plan for how to make up the lost ad revenue). |
Against OMNI, but would be happy for Coupon Connection to count.
Personally, I'd sooner have 'thanks' button system.... |
